With a theme of “Around the World,” the 16th Annual Festival of Trees at the Bennington Museum is set for Nov. 24 through Dec. 30.
The museum will be deco-rated with vignettes featuring uniquely designed holiday trees decorated by local businesses and non-profit organizations. In addition to the vignettes, there will be more than 40 tabletop trees in the “Children’s Forest,” each decorated by elementary school classes from Bennington and the surrounding area.
Opening day of the exhibit, Nov. 24, has been designated Family Day and Children’s Shopping Day. Admission will be just $1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and children who bring a non-perishable food item for the “Tree of Thanks” will be admit-ted at no charge. Personal care items are especially needed, and will be donated to The Kitchen Cupboard.
Santa will be on hand that
day from 1 to 3 p.m., and chil-dren can also enjoy story time, crafts and snacks. The Children’s Shopping Boutique will be open for kids ages four
to 12, who are invited to select presents for their family mem-bers. All gifts will be priced in the $1 to $7 range, and wrapping is included. Shoppers’ Helpers will be on hand to help children select their presents.
On Saturday, Dec. 8, the museum will host the Festival of Trees Gala from 7 to 10 p.m. Enjoy a welcoming glass of bub-bly, delectable foods from differ-ent regions of the world, fine wine and signature drinks cre-ated for the occasion.
Holiday music will be pro-vided by the Mt. Anthony Union High School Chamber Chorus and Jazz Ensemble. Rounding out the entertainment is a spe-cial appearance by Welcome Blend.
The evening also includes a live auction and silent auction, with exceptional items such as a weekend at the Plaza Hotel in New York City including the-

The Manchester Music Festival invites everyone to its Thanksgiving concert, “An Afternoon of Strings and Brass,” at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert in Dorset on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 4 p.m. Performing will be the Montclair Brass and the Manchester Music Festival String Quintet.
“The string part of the con-cert goes first,” said violist
Ariel Rudiakov, artistic director of MMF. “It will burst out of the musical gate with the irresist-ible energy of Felix Mendelssohn.” The quintet is comprised of Deobrah Buck and Joana Genova on violin, Thoomas Rosenthal and Ariel Rudiakov on viola, and cellist Michael Haber.
Following the quintet is Montclair Brass, playing the music of Gabrielli, Leonard
Bernstein, George Gershwin and fast-rising American com-poser Eric Ewazen.
The Montclair Brass is made up of five outstanding musi-cians including Donald Batchelder, who plays principal trumpet for the New York City Opera; Jeff Scott on French horn, who is a member of the Imani Winds; trumpetist Charles Bumcrot, who has per-formed with the American
Symphony Orchestra; Kyle Turner, principal tubist for the the American Symphony; and trombonist Anthony Mazzocchi, co-artistic director (with his wife, violinist Deborah Buck) of the Kinhaven Music School, who has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
“These five artists are among the most sought-after profes-sionals in New York City, “said Rudiakov. “When they come to
the Dorset church, the audience will be treated to the regal, sig-nature sound of a perfectly bal-anced brass ensemble.”
Tickets for the concert are $25 for adults and $10 for stu-dents with ID. They may be pur-chased at the Northshire Bookstore, at the Festival office at 362-1956, at www.mmfvt.org, or at the door. Admission is free for children under 12 years old.
