CULTURE  OF  EXCELLENCE

In  Innova  Primary  School,  we  take  pride  in  all  that  we  do.  We  recognize  the  integral  role  we  play  as  teachers  in  the  lives’  of  our  pupils.    The  school  in  general  has  embraced  the  ‘Culture  of  Excellence’  to  shape,  align  and  calibrate  our  understanding  of  high  quality  actions  and  work.  Teachers  are  seen  as  positive  role  models  who  have  the  ability  to  formulate  deep  impressions  in  the  hearts  and

minds  of  pupils.

As  such,  embracing  a  ‘Culture  of  Excellence’  has  enabled  us  to  both  consciously  and  sub-‐

consciously  transfer  this  positive  work  attitude  and  ethos  for  quality  work.  This  holds  the  pupils  in

good  stead  as  they  progress  to  the  next  stage  of  their  educational  journey.

CULTURE  OF  CARE

In  Innova  Primary,  we  have  a  dedicated  pool  of  teachers  who  are  committed  to  improving  the

classroom  practices  and  parents  who  augment  and  support  the  school’s  existing  structures  in  providing  a  safe  learning  environment  which  is  filled  with  joyful

learning  experiences.

In  Innova,  Professional  Learning  Teams  are  formed  strategically  and  purposefully  to  level  up  teacher

competencies  and  capabilities  to  meet  the  rising  and  complex  demands  of  our  learners.    Teachers  involved  in  professional  conversations  focusing  on  improving

and  refining  our  pedagogical  practices.

CULTURE  OF  LEARNING

We  are  committed  to  designing  unique  programmes  to  bring  out  the  creative  individuality  of  the  child.

   Creative  Problem  Solving

Creative  Problem  Solving  (CPS)  is  school-‐wide  programme  for  developing  creative  and  critical

thinking  in  students  to  prepare  them  for  the  21st  Century.  Through  this  programme,  pupils  will  be  able

to  develop  emotionally  and  socially  through  the  problem  solving  process  and  the  programme  also

serves  as  a  platform  for  students  to  put  values  into  action.

   i-‐Collaborate  System

Innova  Primary  uses  Semantic  Analysis  within  an  interactive  learning  system  known  as  i-‐Collaborat

System  (iCS)  to  make  students’  thinking  and  learning  of  Science  visible.

   One-‐to-‐One  Computing

We  leverage  on  technology  to  further  a  learning  community  where  immersive,  engaging  self-‐directed

learning,  exploration  and  collaboration  continue  naturally  both  in  and  out  of  school.  Students  work  at

their  own  pace  to  build  an  innovative  learning  experience  unique  to  the  digital  learning

environment.

We  aim  to  instil  our  core  values  of  Honesty,  Empathy,  Appreciation,  Respect  and  Tenacity  (H.E.A.R.T)  by  integrating  them  into  both  our  academic  and  non-‐academic  curricula.  By  having  an  open  and   inclusive  culture  where  pupils  feel  that  their  opinions  are  valued,  we  want  to  develop  pupils  with  character.    At  Northoaks,  we  pride  ourselves  in  providing  a  nurturing  and  stimulating  environment  that  will  inspire  excellence   in   every   child   to   ‘Grow   and  Glow’   as   a   respectable   and   responsible   individual.  Our   pupils’  success  will  be   shaped  by  the  positive  relationships  we  hope   to  forge  between  teachers  and  pupils  as  well  as  between  the  school  and  its  stakeholders.

While  we   take   pride   in   ensuring   that   our   pupils   have   a   good   grounding   in   their   academics,  we   place  equal   emphasis   on   developing   our   pupils   in   the   areas   of   aesthetics   as   well   as   physical   and   outdoor  education.  Through  innovative  teaching  pedagogies  and  active  learning,  our  teachers  will  ignite  the  love  for  learning  in  our  pupils.

Each pupil will participate in activities under 4 key domains of growth, including financial and media literacy, values-in-action, creative thinking and sports or aesthetics. All Primary 3 pupils also attend a basic conversational Chinese or Malay Language programme designed to enable them to better appreciate the language and culture of their neighbours and friends.

It provides a meaningful real-world context for pupils to relate and apply their learning and to develop 21st century competencies. Although Science is not a formal subject taught in dssdsd

ICT Integration

Primary 1 and 2, fundamental nature study topics will be introduced to these young learners through the outdoor education segment under the Programme for Active Learning (PAL). They will also learn more about animals and birds while learning language skills.

The school’s networked environment enables pupils to harness ICT capabilities to enhance their learning. In addition to teacher-developed digital materials and customised learning trail apps used in class, pupils can make use of a variety of online and software/app-based resources to support their subject mastery. They also have access to the school’s e-learning portal, as well as ebooks from the national library and digital issues of our major newspapers.
