NIU is ranked No. 16 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches’ Polls, the school’s highest rank since 2003, when Northern Illinois entered the BCS Rankings at No. 10 on October 19 after defeating Maryland, Ala- bama and Iowa State. On Nov. 30, NIU defeated No. 17 (BCS) Kent State, 44-37, in double overtime at Detroit’s Ford Field to win its second consecutive Mid-American Confer- ence Championship. Northern Illinois is tied with Notre Dame and Ohio State for the longest win- ning streak in the nation at 12 games, which is also the longeset win-streak in school history and the most wins ever by a Huskie team. The Huskies are the only NCAA FBS team to win 21 of their last 22 games. Northern Illinois owns the longest conference winning streak (17 games) and the longest home winning streak (21 games) in the nation. On the same day NIU earned its bid to the 2013 DIscover Orange Bowl, Rod Carey was introduced as the Huskies’ 22nd head football coach after serv- ing as offensive coordinator over the past 12 games and as offensive line coach for the past two seasons. Northern Illinois will play in a bowl game for a school-record fifth straight season and the 2012 senior class has set the school record for victories with 41 over the last four seasons. NIU Heisman Trophy candidate Jor- dan Lynch is the most productive dual-threat quarterback in the nation with 2,962 passing and 1,773 rushing yards with 43 TDs (responsible for). He ranks third in the country in total offense, fourth in rushing and 25th in passing efficiency. Lynch has set four NCAA FBS re- cords and needs 38 passing yards to become the first player to pass for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,500 in a season. NIU defensive lineman Nabal Jeffer- son - who owns a 3.78 GPA in accountancy - won a 2012 National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award, presented to the top 15 student-athletes in college football. The Huskies are one play away from 12-0 as Iowa scored its lone touchdown of the season-opener on a 23-yard run on third-and-nine with 2:15 to play, giving the Hawkeyes a 18-17 victory over NIU at Soldier Field. Over the last 10 years, NIU is the winningest program in the Mid-American Conference (90-50, 64.3%) with more wins than Notre Dame, Northwestern or Illinois. Northern Illinois will start eight Florida natives versus Florida State, including Miami-ans Jamaal Bass (LB), Demetrius Stone (DB) and Victor Jacques (LB), Riviera Beach’s Tommylee Lewis (KOR/WR) and Lauderhill’s Ken BIshop. Quarterback Jordan Lynch leads a contingent of five NIU players named first team All-MAC in 2012. Defensive ends Alan Baxter and Sean Progar, safety Jimmie Ward and receiver Martel Moore joined Lynch on the team. NORTHERN ILLINOIS’ JORDAN LYNCH...

• The TOP dual-threat quarterback in the country this year and arguably in NCAA FBS history currently ranks third in the nation in total offense, fourth in rushing and 25th in passing efficiency.

• FIRST quarterback in FBS history to run for more yards in a single season as his 1,771 rushing yards LEAD THE NATION.

• Threw for at least 200 yards and rushed for at least 100 yards in the same game EIGHT times.

• Has passed and run for at least 150 yards in the same game four times. All other FBS quarterbacks COMBINED have five 150-150 games.

• Has run for at least 100 yards in 12 of 13 games this season. That is the MOST 100-yard games in a season by ANY PLAYER since 2008.

• Has set the NCAA Record for most consecutive 100-yard rushing games by a quarterback with 11 while throwing for at least 150 yards in 12 consecutive games.

• Needs 38 passing yards to become the FIRST 3,000/1,500 player in NCAA FBS history and one rushing touchdown to become just the fourth player in NCAA history to throw for 20 touchdowns and run for 20 touchdowns in a season.

“The most potent dual threat since fire and brimstone.” - Mike Lopresti, USA Today

“How do I describe Lynch? How about a combination of Denard Robinson, Johnny Manziel, and Bronco Nagurski? He is a throwback with a modern game.”

- Terry Foster, Detroit News
