Genetic diversity in a food crop includes species that areclosely related/ wild relatives.

WCR can potentially donate genes in breeding and

improvement programs.

Also , traditional varieties constitute within speciesdiversity.

These genetic resources provide the biological basis forfood security, and directly or indirectly support thelivelihoods of every person on earth.
