Hello Huskies!
Thanks for taking a moment to read about the opportunities for you and your student organization to get involved in Homecoming 2014. This packet contains all the necessary information to get involved and participate in Homecoming events. Northeastern University enrolls students from a multitude of backgrounds and offers a plethora of opportunities to make connections with students, faculty, alumni and employers around the world. Wherever we go, domestically or internationally, as students or Alumni, we are all part of the greater Northeastern community. We invite you to showcase the pride you have in your student group and Northeastern by participating in Homecoming Court, Mayor of Huntington Avenue, Husky Decorating, Banner Competition, and so much more! Please read all the guidelines carefully and submit the completed forms via OrgSync to participate. For all Homecoming news, visit www.northeastern.edu/HomecomingNU. Please make note on all following pages of the specific deadlines for each component of Homecoming participation. We’ve also included a schedule of events for Homecoming 2014. Trivia Night

Join RSA and your fellow huskies at the Fifth Annual Homecoming Trivia Night! Put your
knowledge to the test of time to show off your smarts and you’ll have the chance to win Beanpot Tickets and other great prizes!

Teams can consist of up to four members and can be made up of members from your student organization. Bring your team name and
knowledge; this is no trivial matter! A maximum of 25 teams will be allowed to
participate. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis, so come early to grab a seat!

Mayor of Huntington Avenue Debate
November 10th, 2014 | 6:30 p.m. (Doors at 6:00 p.m.) | Blackman Auditorium
The Student Alumni Association’s (SAA) Mayor of Huntington Avenue Debate is the proving grounds for your 2014 Mayor candidates. Join the SAA, fellow students, and the candidates as they fiercely debate over topics such as the best café on campus, the most spirited hockey chant, and what Northeastern’s landscape will look like in 50 years.
Want to be Mayor? Benefits Include:
• $150 Husky Dollars • Mayor of Huntington Avenue Alumni Gear • Free tickets to select alumni events and athletic
games, including the Beanpot • Establishing great connections with student and
alumni leaders
Duties of Being Mayor Include:
• Pumping up Husky spirit through active participation in athletic and student events

• Attending signature student events

Meet the 2014 Homecoming Court

Come to meet the 2014 Homecoming court candidates! Audience participation will be needed! Vote for the candidate that leaves the most lasting impression! Voting will be open on myNEU from Monday, November 10th at 11:59 p.m. until Friday, November 14th at 11:59 p.m.
Do you want to be part of the 2014 Court?
Candidates who run for Homecoming King or Queen are required to attend the following events. Schedule your plans accordingly, as failure to attend these events may disqualify you:
An interview with the judges during the week of November 3rd. Mandatory Court introductory meeting on Wednesday, November 5th at 8:00 p.m. Window Decorating on Sunday, November 9that 1:00 p.m. Mayor of Huntington Avenue Debate on Monday, November 10th at 6:00 p.m. Meet the Court on Monday, November 10th at 8:00 p.m. Meet the Candidates on Wednesday, November 12th at 5:30 p.m. CSC 50th Anniversary Ceremony & Crowning on Saturday, November 15th at 2:00 p.m.
Suggested events to attend: Husky Decorating on Wednesday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m. Woman’s Volleyball on Friday, November 14th at 7:00 p.m. SGA and RSA BBQ on Saturday, November 15th at 5:00 p.m. Men’s Hockey on Saturday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m.

Community Service

Come give back to the Northeastern and Greater Boston Community! The Homecoming Committee will lead multiple service opportunities in the community and on-campus.
FINE PRINT Student Organizations and individuals
are encouraged to participate. Registration will be required.
Space may be limited at certain locations due to capacity restraints.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Husky Decorating Competition
November 12, 2014 | 6:30 p.m.| Curry Student Center Indoor Quad What better way to show off your Northeastern Husky spirit and enthusiasm for this year’s
Homecoming week than by decorating a husky with your student organization’s artistic vision?
The Husky Decorating Competition is open to all student organizations. There are a limited number of huskies, so they will be allocated based on the creativity and appropriateness of
submitted designs. Organizations are strongly encouraged to co-sponsor with other student organization(s) to increase the number of ideas and work-power. This will also maximize
student organizations that are able to participate.
The huskies will be wooden, and the same as last year. This year’s edition will be more durable and be easier to prop up for display!
Fine print
A design is required for an organization to be selected to
participate.
Applications for Huskies must be submitted via OrgSync by
October 20 at 5 p.m.

Groups selected to participate in the Wooden Husky Decorating Competition must send a
representative to the Student Organization Participation meeting
on November 5 at 7 p.m.
Guidelines will be provided to organizations once they are selected
to participate.

HUSKY DECORATING COMPETITION
Each team that applies for a Wooden Husky in accordance to the rules will
receive 400 points.
The winning team for the Wooden Husky Decorating Competition will
also receive 100 bonus points.

Battle of the Bands
November 14th, 2014 | 6:00 p.m. | afterHOURS
Have talented members of your organization? Do members of your organization have talented friends? Tell them to apply to perform at CUP’s 2nd Annual Homecoming Battle of
the Bands! Email [email protected] with digital samples of your music to apply.
We are also on the hunt for great prizes to give to the winners. Want to feature the winning band in your magazine? How about make a cool video or recording for the artist? Then we
want YOU to get involved!
On Thursday of Homecoming, come out to afterHOURS to vote for your favorite student band performance! Visit www.cup.neu.edu for the most up-to-date
information about the show.

Husky Banner Competition
Decorate your Homecoming Banner and wave it high! Put your Northeastern into a design and have it displayed for all to see in Curry Student Center
during the week of Homecoming 2014.
Once your group has been selected for the Banner Competition, banner material will be provided. Please note that groups will need to purchase their own decorating supplies.
FINE PRINT
The Husky Banner Competition is open to all student organizations and
residence hall groups.
Apply for a banner and submit your design via OrgSync no later than 5:00
p.m. Monday, October 20th.

Completed banners are due to the Center for Student Involvement in 434 Curry
Student Center by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7th.
If your organization does not submit or return their completed banner, they will be charged for the cost of the materials.

Spirit Competition
The 2014 Homecoming Spirit Competition will be based on the enthusiasm, support, and attendance displayed by those participating in the NU Homecoming events. Spirit Points
will also include clean up and breakdown at events, along with the Banner and Husky Decorating Competitions. The team that receives the largest number of points at the end of
Homecoming week will win the Spirit Competition.
