Bailey’s Bakery, Café and Sports Bar in

downtown Hoyt serves comfort food up

right. Cindie Bailey, owner/operator,

always loved baking goodies for her large

family and providing treats for school

events. She had always loved baking and

when her children were in high school she

realized she had a gift.

For five years Bailey dreamed of making

her passion for cooking into a business.

Driving as a union teamster for Pay Less

out of Topeka, she had a lot of time to

think. When the warehouse shut down

operations she knew it was time.

“I’ve always had a passion for cooking and

everyone raves about it, especially my pies

and cinnamon rolls," says Bailey. “The

community was in need and my job was

eliminated so it was the perfect time to

act.”

Teresa McAnerney, Northeast Kansas

Enterprise facilitator describes Bailey in

one word “Determined”.

ENTREPRENEUR SPOTLIGHT

Bailey’s Bakery, Café and Sports Bar

“Cindie had her mind set and a vision for what she wanted

to offer her community, then she asked residents, friends

and family to offer suggestions for entrees and baked

goods,” stated McAnerney.

Bailey’s offers a daily special along with a breakfast,

lunch and dinner menu, with new items being added in

September. Friday and Saturday nights are steak night.

Drink specials are offered in the sports bar, such as $2

Margaritas on Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays with

canned beer for $1. More promotions may be added as

football season heats up. The establishment seats

approximately 150 people and has six big screen

televisions, two pool tables and a large juke box.

Bailey’s is available for special events, showers, reunions,

group meetings. Think of them for your next special

event, or when the only thing that will satisfy your craving

is a homemade cinnamon roll!

Christy Isaacs, Jill of all Trades

Christy is an Insurance Agent for

Shelter Insurance Company, a Realtor

with United Country Real Estate, Co-

Owner of Country Memories Soap,

LLC, and President of Isaacs

Consulting & Business Services.

Why Isaacs supports Enterprise Facilitation:

I believe everybody has an idea for a business that they

would like to own someday. Some of these businesses

develop from hobbies, some from a need, some from a

family member or friend, etc. But very few people

understand how to start a business and the vitally

important role that planning plays in business creation

and maintenance. The idea is the fun part, the planning

isn't always. Enterprise facilitation through its

Facilitator, Teresa McAnerney, and the network of board

members helps take that great idea and make it a reality.

Background:

After ten years as an Economic Development

Professional, I was afforded the opportunity to go out and

try my hand at a new career path. I had always been

interested in Real Estate and have found that it ties in

nicely with Insurance sales. After-all anyone who

purchases a house needs insurance. I also co-own and

operate a family owned small business and have recently

developed it into a limited liability corporation and

purchased our first manufacturing facility. The

consulting business came along by accident. Many

people were asking me for advice about business issues

due to my background as a Community and Economic

Development Director. All of a sudden someone offered

to pay for my advice, and a new business venture was

born.

Isaacs has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management

from William Woods University and a Master’s Degree

in Business Administration from Benedictine College.

“I am totally absorbed by my husband

and four year old little boy. His job

seems to be to teach me just how little

control I actually have. We live in

Atchison in a home that overlooks the

Missouri River, which reminds me of

my roots near Bogard, Missouri,” stated Isaacs.
