Opportunities in Latin America for UK business

UK Trade & Investment is the Government organisation that helps UK-based companies develop in international markets. We also assist overseas companies to bring high quality investment to the UK’s economy. Our aim on this visit is to identify business opportunities in the market for North West companies across a wide range of sectors. By bringing this group of businesses from England’s North West to Latin America, we are looking to strengthen economic ties with some of our most important and long-standing trade and investment partners.

Driven by a dynamic economy, England’s North West operates on a truly international scale. Comprising Manchester, Liverpool, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria, its competitive business climate is home to some of the world’s biggest companies that view the region’s strengths as integral to our long-term business success.

The region is a major force on the world stage in advanced engineering, nuclear energy, and financial and professional services. The Region’s quality of life offering is one of the best in the UK. With the vibrant and cosmopolitan cities of Manchester and Liverpool, first-class school and universities, plus varied and attractive landscapes, England’s Northwest is a compelling choice for business location.

Our North West team provides additional specialist expertise on developing business links in Argentina, Brazil & Chile, and the wider Latin American economies, which offer substantial long term opportunities. I am delighted to be visiting the region again, working closely with friends and partners to help companies explore the opportunities and achieve their trade goals.

UK Trade & Investment

Paul ran a successful family business until its takeover in 1991 after 26 years during which he helped to transform it into a public company. In 1994 he became the DTI Export Promoter for Brazil and in the Millennium Honours list he was awarded an MBE for services to exports to Brazil.

In 2001 he became the Brazil Market Adviser within Canning House TBS(Formerly known as LATAG, the Latin American Trade Advisory Group, on which he served between 1985 and 1994. Paul was engaged in January 2005 to act as Latin American Market Adviser on behalf of UKTI in the Northwest.

Paul has led over 40 Trade Missions to Latin America, as well as at least 15 to Eastern Europe. He has been visiting Latin America regularly since 1972. Whilst working mainly in the North West, Paul is consulted by SMEs across the UK and is frequently asked to speak at Seminars in all regions of England.

Paul speaks French, German, Spanish, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese fl uently as well as basic Greek and Russian.

En 1994 asumió el cargo de promotor de exportaciones a Brasil para el Departamento de Comercio e Inversiones y en la lista de Honores del Milenio fue premiado con la categoría MBE del Orden del Imperio Británico por sus servicios a las exportaciones británicas a Brasil.

En 2001 asumió el cargo de Asesor de Exportaciones al Mercado Brasileño en Canning House TBS (antes conocido como Latin American Trade Advisory Group (LATAG) para el cual trabajó entre 1985 y 1994). En Enero 2005 Paul asumió el cargo de Asesor de Exportaciones al Mercado de América Latina para UKTI del noroeste del Reino Unido.

Paul ha liderado más de 40 misiones comerciales a América Latina además de 15 a Europa Oriental. Ha visitado América Latina regularmente desde 1972. Si bien sus servicios se orientan principalmente a empresas en el noroeste del Reino Unido, es consultado por PYMES de todo el Reino Unido y realiza seminarios en distintas regiones de Inglaterra.
