How do I know when to come to the Counseling Office for my Annual Review?
You will receive a Yellow Pass in homeroom the day you will be meeting with your counselor
Please honor the pass and report to the counseling office promptly at the scheduled time
We do our best to schedule your annual review during a study hall or elective
Your Yellow Pass…
A student is promoted from 9th to 10th Grade if he/she has earned four (4) credits and passed three (3) out of the following 9th grades subjects:
English Social StudiesMathematics Science
Summer School Policy
Must have a 55 or better overall average
Must have passed two (2) of four (4) marking periods with a 65 or better, or
Must have passed the final exam with a 65 or better
What’s different about 10th Grade?
You will move on to the High School (CNS)
You will have the opportunity to take more classes in your interest areas
You will be expected to take on more responsibility for your grades and classes

A total of 22 units are required to graduate from CNS High School
REGENTS DIPLOMA
Students must pass the following exams with a score of 65 or above:
1 Exam in English (11th Grade) 1 Exam in Science (Living Environment) 1 Exam in Math (Algebra I) 2 Regents Exams in Social Studies (10th &
11th Grade) All students must pass a total of 5 Exams
REGENTS DIPLOMA WITH ADVANCED DESIGNATION
Students must pass the following Regents exams with a score of 65 or above:
1 Additional Exam in Science (Typically Earth Science)
2 Additional Exams in Math (Geometry & Algebra 2)
5 Mandatory + 3 additional = 8 total Exams
Alternative to World Languages for AD Diploma
Students may achieve an Advanced Designation Diploma by acquiring 5 credits in specific courses in Art (one credit must be Studio Art), Music (4 credits performance, 1 credit Music Theory), Business, Technology, FACS or CTE.
Students still MUST have 1 credit of World Language to graduate from high school!

Some have prerequisites (must have passed a certain class in order to take this class) or require you to have been in a certain level of class (Algebra 2 – must have passed Algebra 1).
Following the presentation, come back to this list and highlight or circle the courses that you may be interested in taking. Bring this to your annual review meeting.
