SERIES NUGGETSThe Gators hold an 8-6 (.571) advantage over the Ospreys. Eight of the 14 contests have been decided by two runs or less.

Kevin O’Sullivan is 8-4 (.667) against North Florida: 8-2 (.800) in Gainesville and 0-2 (.000) in Jacksonville.

LAST MEETING BETWEEN THE GATORS & OSPREYSFlorida plated three runs with two out in the eighth inning to turn a 7-5 deficit into an 8-7 victory over North Florida (2-2) on Feb. 19, 2014 at McKethan Stadium. The Gators trailed 4-0 in the second inning, grabbed a 5-4 advantage in the seventh and trailed by two runs entering the home part of the eighth before rallying for their third victory in a row.

After the Ospreys had scored three runs on three hits and an error in the top of the frame, Braden Mattson (2-for-4) had a one-out single off of Jamie Cardwell. John Sternagel drew a pinch-hit walk for a pair of runners aboard and Ryan McMahon (0-1) had Justin Shafer pop up for the second out. An infield single by Buddy Reed (1-for-2, two runs) loaded the bases and a fielding error on a potential inning-ending grounder by Richie Martin enabled Mattson and Sternagel to come home for a 7-7 stalemate. Casey Turgeon (3-for-5, two RBI) ripped McMahon’s next offering up the middle to provide the winning margin.

GATORS START FIVE-GAME WEEK IN JACKSONVILLENo. 1 Florida (12-1) visits North Florida (6-6) on Tuesday night and the Ospreys will make a return engagement to McKethan Stadium on Wednesday night.

DUNNING DRAWS THE STARTJunior right-hander Dane Dunning (1-0, 6.23) will oppose North Florida freshman left-hander Austin Drury (1-0, 3.38). Dunning has made four appearances and two starts spanning 8.2 innings and has 12 strikeouts and three walks. The righty had a no-decision at UCF last Tuesday night (3.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 6 K, 1 BB)

ANOTHER SUNSHINE STATE RIVALRY RENEWEDThe Gators are 7-1 (.875) against in-state foes this season, sweeping FGCU on Opening Weekend, taking a 2-1 series from No. 6 Miami and defeating UCF twice last week.

HOPING FOR A HAPPY TRIP HOMEFlorida is seeking its first victory in Jacksonville over North Florida after dropping three encounters. The Gators were on the short end of a 6-5 decision at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on April 5, 2006, suffered a 3-0 loss at Harmon Stadium on March 24, 2009, and were doubled up, 10-5, at Harmon Stadium on April 3, 2012.

HOME COOKIN’Wednesday’s contest will start a season-high, nine-game homestand for the Gators, who are 8-0 on their home turf and riding a 15-game home winning streak since a 4-1 loss to Auburn on May 14 of last season.

ARSENAL OF ARMSThrough 13 games, Florida’s starting pitchers are 8-1 with a 2.09 ERA, 84 strikeouts in 64.2 innings and a .186 average against. UF’s bullpen is 4-0 with three saves and has a 2.98 ERA, with 54 K in 54.1 IP and a .201 opponent batting average.

SEEING IT LIKE A BEACH BALLDeacon Liput has started his collegiate career by reaching base in all 13 games. The second baseman has a team-leading .419 batting average and paces the Gators’ offense in doubles

(6), triples (3) and on-base percentage (.519). The Oviedo, Fla., native has not committed any errors.

FAST STARTERSFlorida has out-scored opponents by a 15-2 margin in the first inning this season, is 7-0 when scoring in the opening frame and 8-0 when scoring first.

EMPHASIS ON THE RUNNING GAMEThe Gators are 15-for-18 (.833) on the basepaths, as five differ-ent players have swiped at least one base. Junior Buddy Reed is a perfect 6-for-6 and freshmen Jonathan India and Deacon Liput are 3-for-3.

REED HEATING UPOver the Gators’ past eight games, junior Buddy Reed is 11-for-32 (.344) with a run in each game (nine total) and six RBI. Two of his three hits against Dartmouth went for extra bases (homer on Saturday, triple on Sunday).

COMING THROUGH IN RELIEFFreshman Brady Singer tossed two scoreless frames with three strikeouts in the Gators’ 4-0 blanking of UCF on March 2 and delivered three scoreless and hitless innings out of the bullpen in game two against Dartmouth. The righty had entered the ballgame with a pair of runners aboard and none out and escaped the jam. Singer is 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in five appearances, with 12 strikeouts in 12.2 innings and a .103 average against.

WEEKEND RECAP - GATORS SWEEP BIG GREENFlorida matched its season-long winning streak of six games by downing Darmouth last weekend by scores of 7-0, 4-3 (12) and 8-6.

The Gators finished the sweep of the Big Green with an 8-6 victory on Sunday by overcoming a 3-0 deficit and used a three-run fifth inning to move in front. Sophomore Alex Faedo (3-0, 2.12) picked up the decision with a five-inning stint, sophomore Nick Horvath (1-0, 3.38) collected his first save and the Gator offense was powered by two RBI apiece from sophomore Dalton Guthrie (2-for-4, one run), junior Buddy Reed (1-for-

5, one run) and sophomore JJ Schwarz (1-for-3, two runs). The Gators tallied three runs on two hits and an error to seize a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning. Freshman Jonathan India (2-for-3, two runs) was hit by a pitch with one down and Guthrie laced a single into left field before Reed smashed a game-tying, two-run triple into the right-field corner. Schwarz put the Orange and Blue ahead with an RBI grounder.

Reed sent the first pitch of the bottom of the 12th inning over the scoreboard in right field as UF edged Dartmouth, 4-3, on Saturday. It was Reed’s first homer of the season and helped the Gators clinch the weekend series after the Big Green tied the contest with two down in the ninth. Horvath gunned down the potential go-ahead run at the plate with a perfect strike to Schwarz to keep the contest tied in the ninth inning. Sophomore RHP Shaun Anderson (2-0, 1.86) retired Dartmouth in order for three straight innings to set the stage for Reed’s heroics. The right-hander worked a career-high 3.1 innings, allowing one hit, and matched his career best of four strikeouts. Reed, who had drawn three walks, connected on his first homer since June 17, 2015, against Miami at the NCAA College World Series.

Junior Logan Shore, junior Frank Rubio and freshman Eddy Demurias combined on a two-hit shutout as Florida handled Dartmouth, 7-0, in the series opener on Friday night. Shore (3-0) tied his career high with eight strikeouts and allowed one single over seven innings before Rubio and Demurias each threw a scoreless frame. Shore has claimed his last eight starts dating back to last season, increased his scoreless streak to 17.1 innings and lowered his earned run average to 0.43. On the year, Shore has 22 strikeouts and permitted two walks in 21 innings, while holding foes to a .121 batting average. After blanking UCF on Wednesday, 4-0, the Gators posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since March 29-30, 2013 against Ole Miss (7-0, 4-0). Junior Peter Alonso was 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Guthrie (2-for-4, two RBI, two runs), Liput (2-for-4) and Schwarz (2-for-3) had multiple-hit efforts as part of Florida’s 12-hit total

SHORE RECOGNIZED BY THE SECJunior right-hander Logan Shore was chosen as the SEC Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 29 for the first time in his career after twirling a four-hit shutout against No. 6 Miami on Feb. 26. He became the first recipient from the Gators since right-hander Aaron Rhodes garnered the honor on April 28, 2014.

Shore’s Highlights•Tossed his first career shutout as the Gators claimed the series opener at No. 6 Miami, 5-0•It marked only the eighth time in the 246-game series between the Sunshine State rivals that Florida had blanked Miami, fourth time in Coral Gables and the first time on the road since Feb. 13, 2004•Matched his career high with eight strikeouts and surrendered four hits without issuing any walks•Faced two batters over the minimum in going the distance for the third time at Florida•Retired the side in order five different times, highlighted by three strikeouts in the fifth, and finished the contest on 95 pitches

ALONSO PROVIDED A HOT STICKJunior first baseman Peter Alonso batted .444 (8-for-18) over UF’s five games against Eastern Michigan and No. 6 Miami, with a team-leading eight RBI. Half of his hits went for extra bases, with three doubles and a homer, and he scored five runs. The Tampa, Fla., native set the tone for the series opener at UM with a two-run homer in the first inning and drove in four runs on a pair of two-run doubles in the first victory over Eastern Michigan.

FLORIDA POSTED SECOND SHUTOUT OF ‘16Freshman Jackson Kowar, freshman Brady Singer and junior Shaun Anderson combined for 13 strikeouts, zero walks and a five-hit shutout as No. 1 Florida completed a midweek sweep of UCF, 4-0, on March 2 at McKethan Stadium.

Making his collegiate starting debut, Kowar (1-0) notched eight strikeouts and yielded three singles over five innings. The right-hander faced two batters above the minimum and struck out the side in the fourth inning. Singer tossed two scoreless frames with three strikeouts and Anderson finished the game with two strikeouts in two innings of work. Although the Gators were held to a season-low three hits, two of them were home runs by

sophomores Dalton Guthrie and Mike Rivera.

GATORS TOOK ROUND ONE OVER UCFNo. 1 Florida claimed the front end of its home-and-home series with a 9-5 victory over UCF on March 1. The crowd of 3,831 at the UCF Baseball Complex was the third-highest in school history. Sophomore Jeremy Vasquez drove in a career-high three runs for the Gators, sophomore left-hander Nick Horvath (1-0) earned his first win with a career-long stint of 2.2 innings in which he yielded one hit and one run and junior Frank Rubio worked three effective innings to collect the save.

UF totaled 14 hits against six UCF pitchers, with sophomore Dalton Guthrie, freshman Jonathan India and junior Buddy Reed chipping in with three apiece. India (3-for-5) scored twice and connected on his first homer in the seventh inning.

CLAIMED ANOTHER SERIES WITH MIAMISophomore Alex Faedo enjoyed a career day with 6.1 no-hit innings and a personal-best 12 strikeouts as Florida downed Miami, 7-3, in the rubber game of the series.

The Gators’ pitching staff carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning and totaled a season-high 17 strikeouts. Miami has not been no-hit in 52 years and redshirt junior Christopher Barr kept that streak intact with single into left field as part of a three-run ninth.

After issuing a two-out walk in the first inning, Faedo (2-0) retired 10 straight batters and notched at least two strikeouts in five of the six innings he worked.

Sophomore JJ Schwarz (2-for-5, two runs) drove in a season-high three runs with an RBI grounder in the first and a two-run triple in the seventh inning, while junior Peter Alonso (2-for-5), sophomore Dalton Guthrie (2-for-4, two runs), Liput (2-for-2) and sophomore Jeremy Vasquez (2-for-3) contributed multiple hits to the Gators’ 12-hit outburst.

CRAWFORD STILL STANDS ALONEFlorida’s most recent no-hitter remains Jonathan Crawford’s gem against Bethune-Cookman at the NCAA Gainesville Regional on June 1, 2012.

MILESTONE FOR O’SULLIVANFlorida’s 5-0 win over Miami on Feb. 26 was the 350th victory for Kevin O’Sullivan, becoming the quickest Gator baseball coach to reach that plateau. O’Sullivan hit the mark in his 523rd game. BIZARRE FINISH IN LAKELANDA catcher’s interference call with junior Buddy Reed at the plate and the bases loaded with one out in the ninth brought freshman Jonathan India home with the winning run as No. 1 Florida nipped Eastern Michigan, 8-7, on Feb. 24 at Joker Marchant Stadium.

The Gators trailed by three runs to the Eagles entering the bot-tom of the eighth and plated two runs in each of the final two frames to emerge victorious.

With Florida down to its final two outs, junior Ryan Larson and India (2-for-4, two runs) collected consecutive singles off of junior Sam Delaplane (1-1). Freshman Nelson Maldonado delivered a pinch-hit single for his first collegiate hit to bring across Larson with the tying run and took second on the relay throw home, with India moving to third base. After freshman Deacon Liput was walked intentionally to fill the bags, Reed was obstructed on a 1-2 count, enabling India to come home with the decisive run. Junior Shaun Anderson (1-0) picked up his first collegiate win by putting up a zero in the ninth. QUICK REVIEWFlorida went 52-18 last season, reached the College WorldSeries for the fourth time in the past six years and ranked third in the final polls after becoming the only program in the country to earn a top-eight national seed for NCAA play for the sixth time in seven years.

The Gators claimed the Southeastern Conference Tournament and swept through the Gainesville Regionals and Super Region-als held at McKethan Stadium.

After winning consecutive elimination games over No. 8 Miami (10-2) and Virginia (10-5) at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, Florida was on the short end of a 5-4 score to the eventual national champion Cavaliers. UVa went on to defeat Vanderbilt in the best-of-three CWS Championship Finals.

HOW THE GATORS ARRIVED AT TD AMERITRADE PARKFlorida was awarded the No. 4 national seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Gators swept the NCAA Gainesville Regional with victories over Florida A&M (19-0), USF (8-2) and No. 21 Florida Atlantic (2-1) and then defeated No. 10 Florida State twice (13-5, 11-4) in the Gainesville Super Regional to advance to the College World Series.

DIFFERENT UNIFORMS, SAME DESTINATIONNinth-year skipper Kevin O’Sullivan brought a team to Omaha for the fourth time as a head coach (2010-12, 2015). As an assistant under Jack Leggett at Clemson, O’Sullivan served on staffs that made the 2000, 2002 and 2006 tourneys. In 2012, he passed Joe Arnold (1988, 1991) and Andy Lopez (1996, 1998) for the most CWS trips by Gator head coaches.

HE’S GRABBED THE RINGKevin O’Sullivan’s third SEC Championship in 2014 matched the school record held by Dave Fuller (1948-75). O’Sullivan also guided the Gators to back-to-back titles in 2010-11, while Fuller directed UF to league crowns in 1952, 1956 and 1962.

WHAT’S IN STORE FOR HIS SOPHOMORE YEAR? JJ Schwarz was named the Louisville Slugger Co-2015 Freshman Player of the Year and the NCBWA Freshman Hitter of the Year, achieved All-American status from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), Baseball America, D1Baseball, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Perfect Game and was a consensus Freshman All-American.

He finished with a .332 batting average and led the Gators in RBI (73), homers (18), doubles (16), sacrifice flies (6) and slugging percentage (.629). During the Gators’ postseason,

Schwarz hit a team-best .491 (28-for-57), with 23 runs, 19 RBI, five doubles and four homers.

He was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the SEC Tourna-ment and the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Gainesville Regional. During the SEC Tournament, he hit .526 (10-for-19), with six RBI, five runs and three doubles, as Florida won its seventh SEC Tournament in program history.

BULLPEN WAS VERY EFFECTIVE SHUTTING IT DOWNLast season, Florida was 45-3 (.938) leading after six innings, 44-2 (.957) when ahead after seven innings and was 47-1 (.979) when leading after eight innings. The lone blemish after eight innings came in the Gators’ first contest at the SEC Tournament, when Arkansas tallied three runs in the ninth to earn a 7-6 victory.

FIFTY WAS NIFTYAt 52-18, Florida reached the 50-win plateau for the fourth time, having hit the mark in 1991 (51-21), 1996 (50-18) and 2011 (53-19). The squad finished one win short of matching the single-season school mark for victories. RIGHT TIME FOR A HOT STREAKAfter dropping a ninth-inning heartbreaker to No. 24 Arkansas at the SEC Tournament, the Gators put together a season-long winning streak of 10 games from May 21-June 15, posting seven victories over ranked teams.

In 15 postseason contests, Florida hit .317 (168-for-530), with a 2.54 ERA and a .981 fielding percentage and outscored its opponents by a 128-41 margin.

TRIGGERING THE OFFENSEHarrison Bader (.297, 66 RBI, 17 HR) and JJ Schwarz (.332, 73 RBI, 18 HR) combined for 139 RBI and 35 homers last season.

POWER RETURNEDFlorida totaled 26 home runs in 63 games in 2014 and had 66 through 70 outings in 2015 after hitting six homers at the NCAA College World Series and 16 during the postseason.

JJ Schwarz (18) clubbed two homers in Game 2 of the NCAA

Gainesville Super Regional against Florida State to eclipse the school record for homers by a freshman (Austin Maddox, 17 in 2010). With 17 big flies, Harrison Bader surpassed his season total of two from last year by the fifth game in 2015. WHEN YOU GET KNOCKED DOWN...Twenty-one of the Gators’ 52 wins last season came when they were behind, including three victories over No. 8 Miami and two over No. 8 Vanderbilt, and they overcame 3-0 deficits to upend FAU (2/24), Stony Brook (2/28), Vanderbilt (5/9) and Auburn (5/15). Trailing 6-5 with two out in the eighth on March 24, UF scored three times in that frame and tacked on an insurance run to down Stetson, 9-6. The Gators were down, 4-3, to Alabama in the seventh on March 28 before Jeremy Vasquez tied the game with a two-out homer. Florida scored three in the eighth to se-cure a 7-4 win. UF rebounded from a 2-0 deficit to South Carolina on April 11 for a 12-5 win and reeled off 10 unanswered runs on April 26 against Kentucky. UF trailed Georgia, 3-2, on May 3 be-fore rallying for a 7-4 win, came from behind twice the last two weekends of the regular season to beat Vanderbilt and Auburn, trailed No. 1 LSU before posting a 2-1 triumph in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament, was down 1-0 to Florida Atlantic before a 2-1 win in the NCAA Gainesville Regional final and spotted Florida State two runs in the first inning before an 11-4 triumph in the second game of the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional. Al-though Miami plated the opening run in Omaha, the Gators rode an 11-run fourth inning to a 15-3 victory over the Hurricanes and rebounded from a 1-0 deficit to Virginia in the second meeting for a 10-5 win.

FLORIDA IN SUPER REGIONALS The Gators earned their seventh Super Regional berth in school history and the fifth under Kevin O’Sullivan. UF is 10-5 (.667) and has claimed five titles in Supers.2004 - lost to Miami (FL), 2-0 2005 - defeated Florida State, 2-02009 - lost to Southern Miss, 2-02010 - defeated Miami (FL), 2-02011 - defeated Mississippi State, 2-12012 - defeated NC State, 2-02015 - defeated Florida State, 2-0

TURNSTILES WERE CLICKINGFlorida set a two-game series record by drawing 11,481 fans during the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional. Five of the top-10 Gator Baseball home crowds have come when the Gators have played Florida State.

HOSTING THE PARTY Last season marked the 13th time that McKethan Stadium has hosted NCAA Regional action and the sixth time in the past seven years. The Gators have gone on to the College World Series from Gainesville on eight occasions: 1991, 1996, 1998, 2005, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015.

PROTECTING THE HOUSEFlorida improved to 45-12 (.789) on its own turf during NCAA play. Head coach Kevin O’Sullivan is 23-5 (.821) in NCAA play at home, 15-2 (.882) in Regionals and 8-3 (.727) in Super Regionals.

SUNSHINE STATE VENUES ARE COMMON Considering past history, it wasn’t much of a surprise that the Gators began the NCAA Tourney in their home state. In its 31 Re-gional appearances, UF has been placed at sites within Florida 24 times (Gainesville-13, Coral Gables-7, Tallahassee-4). The squad has also traveled to North Carolina (1958, 1960, 1962), Minne-sota (1977), Texas (2000), Oklahoma (2004) and Indiana (2013).

ENJOYING THE ‘SECOND’ SEASON Kevin O’Sullivan has a 29-17 (.630) NCAA Tournament mark, going 15-6 (.714) in Regionals, 8-3 (.727) in Super Regionals and 6-8 (.429) at the College World Series.

2015 SEC TOURNAMENT RECAP After falling to fifth-seeded Arkansas, 7-6, fourth-seeded Florida knocked off ninth-seeded Auburn (11-2), Arkansas in the rematch (10-0 in seven innings), top-seeded LSU (2-1) and second-seeded Vanderbilt (7-3) to secure the seventh SEC Tournament Championship in school history, first since 2011.

TO THE VICTORS WENT THE SPOILSCatcher/designated hitter JJ Schwarz, who went 2-for-5 with a run scored versus Vanderbilt, was chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the SEC Tourney after batting .526 (10-for-19) over

the five games, with six RBI, five runs and three doubles. He joined Gator winners Rich Bombard (Pitcher, 1982), Brian Reimsnyder (Outfielder, 1988), Herbert Perry (Designated Hitter, 1991), Brian Purvis (Outfielder, 1991) and Daniel Pigott (Outfielder, 2011).

Other members of the All-Tourney Team from the Orange and Blue included first baseman Peter Alonso, right-hander Taylor Lewis, left-hander A.J. Puk and outfielder Buddy Reed.

QUICK START CERTAINLY HELPEDHarrison Bader led off the SEC Tournament Championship game with a homer to left field, jump-starting the Gators’ 7-3 victory over Vanderbilt.

Since dropping last season’s series opener to the Commodores, UF has claimed the last three meetings between the Eastern Division rivals.

Josh Tobias made his first start at second base since March 26, 2013 (vs. Florida State in Jacksonville) and was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk, raising his on-base streak to 22 games.

RIVERA TO THE RESCUE, LEWIS CAGED THE TIGERSCatcher/designated hitter Mike Rivera snapped a 1-1 tie with a leadoff homer in the ninth and Taylor Lewis finished off a 4.1-inning stint in which he permitted one hit and zero runs to the 14 batters he faced as the Gators edged No. 1 LSU in the SEC Tournament semifinals.

Kevin O’Sullivan improved to 5-1 (.833) against top-ranked squads.

SOMETHING TO PONDER...The Gators’ run to the crown in Hoover marked the sixth time last season that Florida lost game one of a weekend set and posted wins to emerge victorious (UF had defeated Tennes-see, Alabama, Georgia, Vanderbilt and Auburn by 2-1 series margins).

SEC SHOWINGSWith a 19-11 (.633) league record, UF defeated Tennessee twice on the opening SEC weekend at McKethan Stadium (L, W, W), was on the short end of a 2-1 series at Ole Miss (L, L, W), claimed two of three games with Alabama at home (L, W, W) fell twice at Missouri (W, L, L), swept No. 21 South Carolina at home, claimed all three games at Mississippi State, lost a pair of games at home to Kentucky (L, L, W), rallied to win the series at Georgia (L, W, W) and rebounded to down No. 8 Vanderbilt (L, W, W) and Auburn (L, W, W).

CONFERENCE SERIES BREAKDOWNFlorida had a 3-7 (.300) mark in Game 1, a 7-3 (.700) record in Game 2 and a 9-1 (.900) record in Game 3 of its SEC series.

The Gators were 4-1 (.800) in home series, defeating Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina and Auburn and falling to Kentucky, and were 3-2 (.600) in their road series, losing at Ole Miss and Missouri before sweeping Mississippi State and defeating Georgia and No. 8 Vanderbilt.

PUT UP BIG NUMBERS Over 63 games in 2014, the Gators reached double-digits five times, the last during a 13-3 victory at Alabama on May 4. UF totaled 10 or more runs 20 times in 70 games in 2015 (22-3 over URI on 2/14; 13-3 at USF on 2/18; 10-8 vs. FAU on 2/24; 14-3 over Stony Brook on 2/28; 10-2 over UCF on 3/4; 14-8 over FSU on 3/17; 22-2 over Stetson on 4/7; 14-3, 12-5, 12-2 against South Carolina from 4/10-4/12; 10-5 at Mississippi State on 4/19; 10-1 vs. Kentucky on April 26; 11-2 vs. Auburn on 5/21; 10-0 vs. Arkan-sas on 5/22; 19-0 over Florida A&M on 5/29; 13-5 and 11-4 over Florida State on 6/5-6/6; 15-3 and 10-2 over Miami (FL) on 6/13 and 6/17 and 10-5 over Virginia on 6/19).
