CONFERENCE CALL

Smart, storage, hydrogen and more: what to expect at SPI and ESI

Over 20,000 energy professionals and 750 exhibitors from more than 120 countries will make Anaheim their home for three days to experience the largest and fastest growing solar trade show in North America. SPI is the only solar trade show that was honored as a Gold 100 show, an award that recognizes the top-100 largest trade shows and an honor SPI has received for the past eight years. As one of the fastest 50 growing trade shows, SPI has ventured into new markets that help connect all things solar – from storage, IoT, hydrogen, distributed wind, microgrids, and beyond.

SPI and ESI are powered by leading industry groups, SEIA and SEPA. All proceeds from SPI go right back to the non-profits in order to help strengthen and grow the United States solar economy.

The future of the solar industry depends on its ability to integrate with new technologies to complement its strengths. With over 750 exhibiting companies expected, you’ll be surrounded by new technologies and ideas, including smart renewable energy and energy storage that drive your business forward. SPI is co-locating with two events, along with an expanded Smart Energy Microgrid Marketplace.

• Solar Power International (SPI), Co-located with Energy Storage International

As the anchor event of North America Smart Energy Week, SPI sets the standard for solar events as the fastest growing and largest solar show in North America. With its breadth of industry experts sharing their knowledge and exhibitions from the industry’s pacemakers, SPI is where leaders convene to get business done. Education sessions include:

o Drivers of Utility-Scale Solar and Storage

o Solar Manufacturing: What Tariffs and New Factories Mean

o Solar as Part of the Generation Mix Perspectives in Resources Planning and Implementation

o The Next Big Market: Engaging Low & Moderate-Income Communities

• Energy Storage International (ESI), Co-located with Solar Power International

Energy storage is a game-changer for the entire energy economy, and especially for the solar industry. By capturing power and releasing it on-demand where it is needed on the grid or behind-the-meter, both utilities and project developers can take advantage of declining costs. In 2017, the U.S. deployed 432 MWh of grid-connected storage and that number is estimated to reach over 1,200 MWh by the end of 2018 alone, according to GTM Research. Energy

Storage International is the largest energy storage event in North America – attendees join to understand the importance of integrating an energy storage system. This year, ESI is also going beyond solar+storage. As storage costs decline, viable energy storage solutions are emerging for small and community wind projects, enhancing their value. In addition to drawing some of the biggest players in energy storage, ESI also features an education pavilion on the show floor dedicated to new technology, trends, and analysis of energy storage. Education sessions include:

o Value Stacking and Finance Innovations

o Demystifying the differences between Distributed Energy Storage and Central Energy Storage in PV-Systems

o The Roles of Storage and DER in Disaster Recovery and Resilience

o PV + Storage - A Path to Reliable, Fully Dispatchable Solar

• Hydrogen + Fuel Cells North America, Co-located with Solar Power International

Hydrogen + Fuel Cells North America, led by the organizers of Europe’s largest hydrogen, fuels cells and battery exhibition, HANNOVER MESSE, is back after a successful 2017 launch. This year’s exhibition will be bigger and better, featuring 50+ international exhibitors focusing on the connection between solar and hydrogen, as well as an extensive forum program on topics from public transport to policy incentives. Education sessions include:

o Fuel Cells for Distributed Energy and Utility Generation

o Renewables Fueling Public Transport

o Hydrogen as key to sector coupling

o Fuel Cell Electric-Vehicles: Entry Point for the Expanded Renewable Energy Transition

• Smart energy microgrid marketplace, Presented by Solar Power International

The Smart Energy Microgrid Marketplace will feature a fully-functioning microgrid, energy management systems, automation products, electric vehicle charging stations, energy storage systems, solar panel manufacturers, and distributed wind project developers—ultimately making the connection between distributed energy resources and smart products. Education sessions include:

o Smart Energy Management Systems for Residential Storage Hybrid Inverters

o DC Hybrid Microgrids and Commercial Building Retrofits

o Field Performance of Behind-the-Meter Solar+Storage

o Smart Control Interconnection Solutions

for C&I Customers

• The Technical Symposium, Presented by Solar Power International

The Technical Symposium is back for a second year, offering professionals from the academic, R&D, technical and scientific disciplines in photovoltaics, energy storage and smart energy the opportunity to submit abstracts for peer review, presentation, and publication at the largest gathering of the solar community in North America. The technical symposium features three days of cutting edge scientific and technical content. Education sessions include:

o Enhance System Reliability with the use of sensors, predictive analytics and cloud gate – IoT
