The Institute for Organizational Learning at BHS held its 4th annual graduation ceremony for the Leadership &

Management Development Program at the Pittsfield Country Club on November 11th. The ceremony recognized the 18 managers who have completed the eight-month long training. Participants represented a wide range of experience levels as well as functional and divisional roles.

“The graduation ceremony is held to recognize the hard work of the participants and to thank those who made it possible” said Matthew J. Painter, Director of Leadership Development.

Diane Kelly, RN, Chief Operating Officer of BMC offered special remarks and accolades to the group, using sentiments shared by the participants’ capstone speeches made the day before. Joining her was Darlene Rodowicz, Chief Financial Officer of BHS and Arthur Milano, Vice President of Human Resources, in presenting certificates of completion to the participants.

The graduating class of 2016 nominated classmate Maureen Daniels, Director of Community Health and Wellness, to provide congratulatory remarks on behalf of the class. She reiterated the participants’ thanks to senior management for the opportunity to participate. This year’s class made a special donation to the Friendship Food Pantry in North Adams to ‘pay forward’ their gratitude in being in this year’s cohort.

One Final Task for Tom RomeoFormer BHS Vice President of Facilities Tom Romeo, who recently retired after serving with the health systems for many

decades in senior leadership positions, got to perform one final ceremonial task prior to his retirement. The Oboyski property, which BHS has purchased, was demolished recently, and in late December Tom had the opportunity to don his construction helmet, and with sledge hammer in hand, begin the process of demolition.

Former Vice President of Facilities Tom Romeo swings a sledge hammer to take out a wooden post on the former Oboyski property, as demolition was kicked off.

Tom also had the chance to pose in the construction equipment used for demolition of the property.

Fairview Welcomes Children for Holiday Gathering

Fairview Hospital’s Recreation Association

hosted Fairview’s Children’s Holiday Party at the hospital during the Holiday Season. In all, 36 children delighted in a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Fairview staff dressed up as elves and snowmen to lead a holiday hunt with fun activities guided by a map through six activity stations, each named for one of Santa’s reindeers. Fairview’s Recreation Association organizes social events throughout the year for staff at Fairview Hospital and affiliate practices.

At right: Giant candy canes could be found at the children’s party, as shown here, held by Kathleen Townsend from the Fairview Medical Staff Office.
