Dear Parents and Carers, Instructional Rounds Over two days last week we hosted staff teams from John Purchase PS, Oakhill Drive PS and Thornleigh West PS for Instructional Rounds. Our Problem of Practice was centred on Visible Learning strategies and it was wonderful to see that all of our classroom teachers have embraced this practice and were implementing strategies in their classrooms. Receiving feedback from staff from other local schools enabled us to recognise how much we have achieved and continue to set directions for the future.

Should you need to arrange a payment plan, please contact me directly as soon as possible. 2020 Kindergarten Information Mornings Yesterday we held the first of our 2020 Kindergarten Information mornings. This was an opportunity for parents to learn about school programs, undertake a school tour, visit our Kindergarten classrooms and hear about our transition to school program. This session will be repeated on Thursday 22 August from 9.15 - 11.00 a.m. Please pass this information on if you are aware of a parent who may be interested. Thank you to parent helpers Bonita Chan, Ingrid Naden, Kerri Wickenden and Shelly Smith for assisting with the morning tea.

Band Camp Thank you to all of the parents who assisted at this year’s Band Camp, held last Friday and over the weekend. Special thanks to Lisa Manton for her thorough coordination of this event. Please see the report from Ms Williams later in this newsletter for further details. Congratulations Corey Congratulations to Corey M who has been selected to represent Beecroft Zone at the Sydney North Rugby Union trials later this term. This is a great achievement! Parent Forum Please be reminded about our 2019 Parent Forum centred on Science and Technology, which will be held on Wednesday 12 June from 6.30 p.m. We encourage all families to attend to learn more about our curriculum programs. The note with details is available in the “Notes to Parents / Carers” section of our app. Positive Behaviour for Learning During this fortnight all classes are learning about expectations for transitions and how our three values relate to moving from the playground to classrooms or from classrooms to the hall, library or computer room. Band Camp Our band program students attended camp last Friday to Sunday. It was a great opportunity for intensive rehearsals and group bonding. This year the students spent Friday at Normanhurst participating in rehearsals and drumming workshops before hopping on the bus at 3 p.m. and heading off to Vision Valley. Congratulations to all of the students who gave such a big effort in learning new pieces and practising over this period. Thank you to everyone involved in the organisation of Band Camp. I would like to make special mention of Lisa Manton who put hours of time and effort into coordinating the camp and her team of parent volunteers who gave up their time to assist.

Uniform Shop News Firstly a BIG THANK YOU to Cherry Li who has run and led the Uniform shop team since the new P&C financial year started. OPENING HOUR CHANGES Effective from this coming FRIDAY 31 MAY the Uniform shop opening hours will be changed to 8.30 a.m. - 9.30 a.m. and will continue this way to accomodate the availability of new volunteer staff that are running the shop. EMAIL ORDERING If you cannot make it during opening hours, we sincerely apologise. However, it is possible for you to Download the Printable Uniform Order Form using the link here http://www.npspandc.com/uniform-shop/ and submit the completed form with your Proof of Payment to the email address [email protected]. We will endeavour to fill your order and deliver the goods to your child’s classroom on the Friday (subject to availability). If you are unsure of your child’s size, please email us your inquiry first and we can discuss your options. This year we will be participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. Through this program we will be able to get new educational resources for our school – and all we need you to do is shop for your groceries at Woolworths. From Wednesday 1 May to Tuesday 25 June or while stock lasts, we are collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers. You will get one Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for every $10 spent (excluding liquor, tobacco and gift cards). Place the Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet and when it is complete, the Sticker Sheet can be dropped into the Collection Box here at school or at your local Woolworths.

At the end of the promotion, we will be able to get some great new equipment. The range is extensive and offers lots of items ideal for our students – including resources for Maths, English, Science and some fantastic fun supplies for Arts & Craft, Sport and for our library. If you would like to know more please visit woolworths.com.au/earnandlearn Kind regards, Alice Bell School Administrative Manager
