August 2 - Depart from your home city to Paris.

August 3 - Arrive Paris and transfer to Normandy. After an early morning arrival in Paris at Charles de Gaulle Airport, our group will depart for Normandy by motorcoach. Our first stop will be Pegasus Bridge where in the early morning hours of June 6, 1944, a small detachment of British airborne troops stormed the German defense forces and paved the way for the Allied invasion of Europe. We then head to Bayeux and our hotel. We will also visit the world famous Bayeux Tapestry. The tapestry tells the story of the Battle of Hastings; why William felt he had to invade, the preparations made for the crossing, and the battle itself.Overnight Bayeux D

August 4 - Touring Normandy On our first full day in Normandy we will visit some key sites in the American Airborne bridgehead, and cover the landings on Utah beach. We will adventure through the hedgerows of Normandy to explore forgotten battles and the soldiers who fought them. Other sites are better known such as Brécourt Manor, where Dick Winters and his men from Easy Company made the famous assault on the German guns as portrayed in the book and TV mini-series “Band of Brothers.” We will also visit Ste. Mère-Église, where paratroopers landed during the pre-dawn hours of D-Day. We will visit the church made famous in the film “The Longest Day.” We also visit La Fiere, where the famous bridge and causeway battle took place. We’ll also make stops along the way at Angoville- au-Plain, Carentan and Graignes.

Overnight Bayeux B,D

August 5 - Touring Normandy After breakfast at our hotel, we are off to visit Pointe du Hoc for a detailed look at the cliff-assault by the Rangers and to hear the story of the 2nd Ranger Battalion scaling the cliffs to neutralize the German guns that were suspected of being there. As well as the subsequent heroic defense that the 2nd Rangers, aided by members of the 5th Rangers, made in order to hold off the multiple German counter attacks. We will visit Omaha Beach where we hear stories of bravery and courage. We finish the day at the Normandy American Cemetery that overlooks Omaha Beach. Overnight Normandy B,D

August 6 - Reims We are then off for an early morning start to Reims. In Reims, we will visit the school b u i l d i n g t h a t w a s E i s e n h o w e r ’ s Headquarters during the latter part of WWII. The Musée de la Reddition’s (Museum of Surrender) map room is still furnished as it was in 1945 where the Germans signed the unconditional surrender on May 7, 1945. Dinner on your own in the city center. Overnight Reims B

August 7 - Reims to Luxembourg

A walking tour of Reims, the home of Champagne, awaits us this morning. We will also visit the Cathedral Notre-Dame de Reims, the church in which numerous French monarchs were officially crowned. We then head out for Luxembourg with a quick stop in Verdun, site of some of the greatest battles of World War 1. We are then on our way to Luxembourg.

Overnight Luxembourg City B,D

August 8 - Battle of the Bulge Today we drive north through Ettlebruck and then stop briefly at the trenches and the National Liberation Memorial near Nothum at Schumann's Eck .We’ll Drive to Bastogne, Belgium to view the star-shaped Mardasson Monument, a tribute to the soldiers who died in the Ardennes battles, and to see the fox holes used by Easy Company, whose stories inspired the TV mini-series 'Band of Brothers'. Your travels this afternoon will take you into the Ardennes region, known for the infamous 'Battle of the Bulge’, then to the trenches at the Bois Jacques near Foy with a stop at Noville then on to the Cobra King site on the road to Assenois. Overnight Luxembourg City B

August 9 - Battle of the Bulge This morning after breakfast we drive to Diekirch to visit the Musée National d'Histoire Militaire - Luxembourg's National Museum of Military History. Housed in an old brewery, this museum documents the way that the Second World War exerted a major impact on the Luxembourg people, especially during the Battle of the Bulge. After that visit, we move on toward the border to see where the German 352nd Volksgrenadier Division attacked the U.S. 28th Infantry Division before dawn on December 16, 1944. Then, as we drive up the valley of the Our River, we will see Siegfried Line bunkers, the spot at Stolzembourg where the first allied troops set foot in Germany during World War II and finally the castle at Vianden where a Luxembourg resistance militia fought off a major German attack in November 1944. After a full day we head back to Luxembourg for our farewell dinner.
