The Summer months have seen a significant upsurge in the number ofproperties coming to the market, no doubt partly as a result of theremoval of the burden of the Home Information Pack (HIP).

In contrast, transaction levels have fallen; no doubt influenced by theelection, football world cup and the fact that a large number of thepopulation had taken off on holiday.

This has inevitably resulted in an over supply of property for sale but, inthe longer term, that might just be the best piece of news we couldhave hoped for as property prices will not be artificially inflated byscarcity and we could be about to experience a much more balancedphase in the market all round.

Added to this, there are clear indications of pent up demand – withtransaction levels down by 30% over each of the last two years this wasalmost bound to happen.

Why is this good news?

Because every seller is usually a buyer, this should lead to a muchincreased level of activity all round. It is accepted that getting amortgage these days is no longer a ‘walk in the park’ however, there areseveral times more mortgage products available now than there werejust 12 months ago.

So, despite the negative news about the property market emanatingfrom some quarters, when you really think of it there are plenty ofreasons to be optimistic of a busy autumn market.

The company is founded on strict holisticprinciples, and prides itself on thequality of the ingredients it uses.

Grounded in careful research and extensiveknowledge picked up in over 30 years of petfood manufacture, the Naturediet range ismanufactured in a bespoke and innovativefactory in the heart of rural Norfolk.

Naturediet dog food is hypoallergenic andfree from artificial ingredients, preservativesand other nasty chemicals; perfect for fussyeaters or dogs with allergies. The high level ofdietary fibre included in Naturediet dog foodalso helps promote healthy and efficientdigestive function.

Food allergies in pets are far more prevalenttoday than they were 40 years ago, and usuallymanifest as an acute or chronic cutaneous(skin) problem or gastrointestinal disease, affecting all ages of pet.

The past four decades have seen a growth inthe levels of processing, chemicals andadditives used in pet food manufacture.Thisnot surprisingly has a negative impact onnutritional benefit, with highly processed, highlyrefined, heat-treated food often provoking thedog’s immune system into an allergic response.

The poor quality raw materials used in manyprocessed dog foods today can also causeproblems with digestion. Dogs are designed todigest high quality proteins such as thosefound in meat, but protein that is badly de-

natured or damaged by extreme renderingare treated by the body as lower quality, and ifnot properly assimilated are broken down toa toxic waste product called “urea”.

Bearing all of this in mind, the bestadvice would be to avoid allchemical influences andunnatural protein sourceswhen possible and use onlywholesome, natural food, which is either fresh orminimally processed. For thisreason, all packs of Naturedietdog food contain at least 60 percent real meat, with brown rice, vegetables and herbs all helping tomake it a natural and well-balanced foodto suit all types and ages of dog.

And, in a further bid to improve thehealth of canines everywhere,Naturediet has recently announcedthe release of Naturezyme, aprobiotic feed supplement aimed atthose not currently feedingNaturediet to their pets.Naturezyme tops up anyvitamins, minerals and nutrientsthat can be lacking incommercial pet food, andcontains a probiotic that willnot only help maintain ahealthy gut function, butincrease the efficiency of thedigestive system.

Horses have been a huge passion in mylife since the age of eight, when I wastaught to ride at the local stables on

an 11.2hh pony named ‘Minnie’. I stillreminisce about cantering along the beautifulNorth Norfolk beach at Holme-Next-Sea, onbright crisp mornings throughout the year ;even in the cold and rain there was stillsomething fantastic about the experience.Every Saturday I would spend the entire dayat the riding school, learning to improve myriding skills and widen my knowledge on thewonderful equine creatures.

At the age of 16, I gained employment withhorses and undertook my British HorseSociety Stages, which are a combination ofequine knowledge and care, riding andteaching examinations. I learnt a great deal

about all matters equestrian and in later yearsI went on to compete in Show Jumping,Dressage and Eventing.

Presently, due to an ever-increasing workloadand not enough hours in the day (like most ofus!), I have simply reverted to riding maybeonce a fortnight, not only for the enjoymentbut for the therapeutic qualities too.

Today, with the rapid diversification ofhuman activity, we all come face to facewith numerous causes of stress – pressurefrom work being one of them! Did youknow that our equine friends are anincredible tool for physical therapy, emotional growth and learning? Horseriding offers a great workout for both themind and body, physically boosting the

cardiovascular system and mentally easingstress in the mind. Those of you that ride willbe fully aware of the unique relationshipdeveloped between rider and horse, whichcreates trust and friendship that is mostrewarding to experience. In the UK, horseriding has grown massively in popularity overrecent years, and the trend looks set tocontinue as more people discover thepleasure of the equestrian field. I believe morethan 2.4 million people ride regularly in theUK alone and many more ride occasionally oras a holiday activity. Maybe this statisticexplains why buying and selling equestrianproperty is on the rise. I could not think ofany better feeling than waking up in themorning, opening my curtains and seeing mymuch loved and vastly appreciated equinefriend grazing in a paddock on my doorstep –what more could one wish for!
