Noosa welcomes our holiday visitors, from those who are discovering the region for the first time to those returning to their favourite school

holiday destination. All visitors, young and the young at heart, and even locals relaxing with time off over the holidays can enjoy a fun filled

calendar of events in between soaking up the region’s beautiful beaches, national parks and hinterland.

Details For an educational and fun-filled day out, head to the 10th annual Noosa Festival of Water, showcasing features from Lake Borumba Fish Stocking group, see Geckoes Wildlife natives animals display and presentation, water activities and free boat rides across Lake Macdonald to the Gerry Cook Hatchery, and entertainment in the amphitheatre with Irish music from the Famous Jimmies, Welcome to Country and performance with Lyndon Davis and the Gubbi Gubbi Dancers, Andrea Kirwin and band, and Caitlyn Shadbolt. There are children's art activities with Arting About with Lyn McCrea, and the Lake Mac Catch and Release Bass Fishing Comp has some fantastic prizes.

Details Family days: Free family orientated art activities on Sunday 13 July, 11am-2pm, and Saturday 19 July, 10am-noon. No bookings required.

10-13 year olds have the chance to work with nationally and internationally acclaimed Australian artist Judy Watson, Aboriginal descendant of the Waanyi people of North-West Queensland, and learn about her screen printing skills, Friday 4 July, 11am-12:30pm, $15 per child, bookings and prepayment essential.

Details Eumundi Markets hosts workshops and demonstrations for young visitors, as well as face painting, pony and Segway rides, jumping castle, The Wishing Chair child minding and hundreds of colourful stalls.

Cartooning for Kids with children’s author Cartoon Dave Hackett, Saturdays 28 June, 5 and 12 July at 10:30am, 11:30am and 12:30pm - free, hands-on cartooning workshops with Crazy Cartoon Animals, Gross Cartooning, and Cartooning with Just 5 Shapes.

Magic shows, Saturdays 28 June, 5 and 12 July at 10am, 11am and noon with Nickleby, accompanied by his rabbit Fluffy Bum.

Science with interactive challenges hosted by Blue Sky Science from 8am on Wednesdays 2 and 9 July. Test your skills with tricky science challenges for your chance to win a prize.

Play with clay and join ceramic artist Merrie Tomkins from 8am on Wednesdays 2 and 9 July. Make a handmade treasure to remember your special day at the Eumundi Markets.

Details SurfDancer is offering a school holiday Grom Squad SurfDance program for primary school students in Years 3-7. The program is for beginners to advanced surfers and will be held on 7,8,9,10 and 11 July, 10-11am. Cost is $100 and bookings are essential. One-off lessons cost $30. Private and team SurfDance lessons are available by appointment.

Details It’s as wild as life gets at Australia Zoo with a treaure hunt, Zoo Keeper for a Day program, wildlife shows, kids’ rides, giant croc slide, free entertainment and face painting, colouring in comp and pony rides (11am-3pm daily).

Pick up your treasure map on admission and follow the clues as your search for buried treasure, with prizes for successful explorers - see the new baby camels Luna and Gypsy on the way, and look out for more baby animals if you make it down to Africa.

Go behind the scenes and get up close with the wildlife to enjoy a day in the life on an Australia Zoo keeper - must book.
