Overview –

Non-Profit Montgomery and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County, formed the NON-PROFIT ENERGY ALLIANCE, an initiative to negotiate as a group for cheaper and greener electricity.

NON-PROFIT ENERGY ALLIANCE The “Greening” of Non-Profits

– Enhances the “triple bottom line” by • generating “cash” savings that can be dedicated

towards mission while • protecting the environment and • enhancing community well being

– Bolsters the case of sound social and fiscal management to funders

– Improves employee and volunteer moral, productivity and dedication

NON-PROFIT ENERGY ALLIANCE NON-PROFIT ENERGY ALLIANCE (NPEA) is not a formal or contractual

group, but an alliance of like-minded non-profits who have joined together to use their collective purchasing power to not only secure competitive electricity supply at lower cost, but to protect the environment and build a greener economy by supporting clean sources of energy that are essential to protecting our environment and building a new economy.

Launched in May 2010, the Non-Profit Energy Alliance is now comprised of

66 leading-edge non-profits that will collectively save an estimated $542,769 compared to standard energy service, while supporting clean sources of energy that are essential to protecting our environment and building a new economy. The wind power purchased through this alliance offsets about 44.74 million pounds of CO2, which is equivalent to removing 4,197 cars off the roads for one year.

This is the eighth initiative of the Non-Profit Energy Alliance. To obtain the best price, Non-Profit Energy Alliance VIII will seek a 1 or 2-year quote for 50% or 100% renewable energy from Clean Currents, chosen by a selection committee of non-profits who evaluated three local providers.



All non-profit organizations and congregations who want to purchase alternative energy as a group will complete the Power Quote Request Form and provide it, along with a copy of your organization’s most recent electric bill(s) and your organization’s 501(c)3 letter by 12:00 noon Friday, October 11, 2013.

The formal arrangement will remain between

each individual organization and Clean Currents. A collaboration between The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, Non-Profit

Organizations or congregations that express interest after 12:00pm NOON on Friday, October 11, 2013 will NOT be able to participate in NON-PROFIT ENERGY ALLIANCE VIII.


NON-PROFIT ENERGY ALLIANCE • October 22, 2013 - Clean Currents will provide

quotes to all potential participating organizations

• October 22-25, 2013 - organizations should Set aside time to review Clean Currents’ proposal

• On Friday, October 25th - signed agreements due back to Clean Currents; a decision-maker in your organization must be prepared to sign a contract

If you opt in, your organization's authorized decision maker must sign the agreement and it must be at the vendor's by COB

Be Energy Conscious
