NOGRID GmbH was founded in 2006 bringing to themarket a new, revolutionary software for the simulationof flows: NOGRID FPM. The Finite Pointset Method(FPM) is based on the particle method, which allows forsimulation of flows without the help of a grid or mesh.Apart from saving time, this method is of great advan-tage for the direct import of models from other CAD-systems.
NOGRID FPM software has been developed andvalidated in collaboration with the Fraunhofer-Insitute inKaiserslautern over the past eight years. Our portfolioof software products can be applied in a broad range

FPM can unfold its full potential where grid-based me-thods need to go through an intensive re-meshing due to free surfaces or moving components. Some typical examples, for which FPM exceeds the potential of exis-ting solutions are models including free surfaces, multiple phase flows, fluid-structure-interaction with strong chan-ges in geometry or problems from structural mechanics with heavily changing structures.
Our FPM (Finite Pointset Method) Software is based on the so called particle method. Contrary to classical methods this method requires no grid or mesh for the discretization of differential equa-tions. FPM points are automatically filled, moved, refilled and cleaned depending on user speci-fications. The point distribution can be defined variously, e.g. constant in the whole flow domain, changing with time or increasing/decreasing locally depending on the flow/geometry situation.
