Use hyper terminal - RS 232 from PC to Node B, port ‘A’ of GPBPress ‘Enter’ and you should see ‘$’ appearing, if not check the cable connections!

0. $ ifconfig (To check current ip address of Node B)

interface: le0inet: 10.192.17.185netmask: 255.255.255.248broadcast: 10.192.17.191

1. $ reload -- (To put GPB in back up mode, Note IP address, subnetmast all will be lost)

OSE Delta PowerPC krn-750/R2.1.2Welcome to OSE Shell OSE4.3.Stop due to remain in backup set

2. $ vols //should see /d and /c2 volumes (/c2 indicates that it’s the backup)

3. $ formathd /d (Scratch hard disk - sector d)

All data on volume will be destroyed. Continue? y/n (n):

4. $ formathd /c2 (Scratch hard disk - sector c2)

All data on volume will be destroyed. Continue? y/n (n):

SETTING UP IP ADDRESS & PASSWORD

1. $ reload -- (need to execute this reload -- again or ip address definition will not execute)

OSE Delta PowerPC krn-750/R2.1.2Welcome to OSE Shell OSE4.3Stop due to remain in backup set

2. $ ifconfig (Should not see previous IP setting as all is lost when in backup mode - need to define again )

Interface configuration never made for le0IP address must be set via command:Usage: ifconfig <ifname> [<address>] [netmask <mask>] [broadcast <address>]

3. $ ifconfig le0 10.192.17.185 netmask 255.255.255.248 broadcast 10.192.17.191

4. $ ifconfig // to see if ip address is correct

interface: le0inet: 10.192.17.185netmask: 255.255.255.248broadcast: 10.192.17.191

5. $ passwd Press Enter (allow us to use telnet later)

Enter new password: (As you type rbs you will not see it on the screen)Re-enter new password:

interface: le0inet: 10.192.17.185netmask: 255.255.255.248broadcast: 10.192.17.191

8. Connect notebook to ethernet (Port D in GPB)- set ip address in notebook to 10.192.17.186netmask 255.255.255.248

(My network places/properties/local area connection/properties/TCP/IP/properties/Use the following IP address. Make sure the status of connection ie disable and then enable)

Make sure you can ping the node: ping 10.192.17.185 (Start/run/cmd)
