Our staff have been working diligently to try and keep school a calm and productive place of learning, where students can continue their education, socialise with their friends and escape the stress and anxiety that we are facing in the world around us. At school, we have been implementing a range of measures and change in practice to address guidelines regarding mass gatherings and social distancing. We have implemented additional cleaning hours that have enabled our cleaners to pay extra attention to high touch point surfaces such as door handles, light switches, desks, toilets, taps and sinks. Staff at our school have also been focusing on the importance of effective hand and sneeze/cough hygiene with students. We have been limiting the number of non-essential visitors to our school. I would like to acknowledge and thank our wonderful staff team who have put their own anxiety and stress to the side, to ensure that our school continues delivering a quality service to our students (whether at school or home) during these uncertain times. We are fortunate, to have such a dedicated and high performing staff team at Northview! Thankyou also to our parents and carers for the support that you are providing your children and the understanding and continued support that you are providing our staff during this time. This support as always is greatly appreciated! Additional Reminders

Tuckshop has finished up for the term (no Tuckshop tomorrow, Friday 27th

March)

Breakfast Club has finished for the term. Special thanks to Chappy Rikki, her band of volunteers and the business sponsors who commit their time and funds to offer this valued service to our students. We look forward to resuming Breakfast Club next term.

A big thankyou to ‘Travel Associates Mackay’ for donating the giant world map that the school has received this week. When the map is assembled, it will become a great learning resource complimenting our HASS programs. We will take a photo and share this next term when on display.

Crazy Hair Day

Our school community had a great display of Crazy Hair styles last Friday, as our students and staff demonstrated the importance of sending an important message regarding our views on bullying – “Bullying – No Way, not ever, at Northview!” Make sure you check out the pictures on Facebook if you haven’t seen them already and a special feature will be included in next Tuesday’s edition of the ‘Daily Mercury’.

Regards, Darren Russell Principal

Sporting News

In this time of uncertainty, all sporting events/trials have been cancelled/postponed for school children. There are some simple things that you and your children can do at home that required very little equipment. Skipping (especially when you blast out your favourite tune) is said to provide the following benefits:

If you find yourself confined to home, skipping is a great indoor/outdoor activity for the whole family to enjoy. Skip individually or with your child OR, the whole family.

Whole group or family Pair skipping
