    The College of Advanced Technology Studies (CATS) is an Institution run by the MICRO-D Foundation, 136/6, N.S.Palya, BTM Layout, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore 560 076

    MICRO-D Foundation has been established to provide Quality Education in Technicaland Management Areas. The Trust has been established at Bangalore by one of the leadingIndustry and believes that since the students will ultimately work for Industry, it is necessary that

    Industry should participate in the education process. To this end, the Trust will Facilitate IndustrialTraining, Sponsor Projects and will provide opportunities for Students to interact with leadingCompanies during their course work.

    The Trust currently has the College of Advanced Technology Studies (CATS) as one ofits Institutions. In the future, the Trust will be sponsoring Institutions in other Areas ofTechnology.

    The College of Advanced Technology Studies is situated in the heart of Bangalore on DickensonRoad. It is in the Hub of the City and is easily accessible from any part of the City. It is equipped

    with State-of-the-art facilities. The Institution possesses the latest Technology Tools andSystems with Modern Laboratories for imparting education in the areas of VLSI Design,Embedded Systems, Management and Fashion Design Technologies.

    The staff members are well qualified and have industry experience of high caliber. The academicstaff will be assisted by practicing experts from leading companies for training the students onTools and Techniques. The Library is stocked with the latest books and journals with frequentupdates. Our placement section has close relationship with industry.

    We train our students with all necessary skills for their successful placement. Our Studentsundergo internship in leading Companies in India, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, USA, GulfCountries and Europe. Successful completion of the internship usually leads to absorption in therespective companies.

    The M.Tech, MS and MBA programs will be conducted at CATS, RBANMS Centenary Building, #30, Dickenson Road, Bangalore 560047.

    The B.Sc. Fashion Design course will be conducted at

    CATS, 136/6, N.S.Palya, BTM Layout, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore 560 076.

    (10,000 sq ft, with exhaustive labs for Apparel Design, Accessory Design, Jewellery Design,Modeling, Ramp, Studio and lot more)

    Hostel

    Hostel accommodation for boys and girls shall be arranged separately upon request.

    Attendance and ProgressAS per the University Regulation each student should obtain a minimum of 75%

    attendance and secure a good Progress Report about his achievements in various subjects. If astudent has not obtained the requisite percent of marks and his progress is not satisfactory he willnot be permitted to appear for the University Exam and will be detained for 1 year.

    Library

    A full-fledged Library with Books and Journals in VLSI Technology, Electronics Design,Embedded Systems, Operating Systems & Computer Architecture, Management, Fashion,Textiles, Jewellery, Apparel and Production technology etc., is available for the use of Studentsand Staff. A separate reference Library is also available.

    Co-curricular Activities

    The students are encouraged to participate in Seminars arranged for all subjects. The studentwill also be imparted training in relevant Tools and Techniques by Industry Experts.

    This course is tailored to prepare the students for a career in VLSI design. The subjects willexpose the students to a certain amount of domain knowledge in advanced systems design andsignal processing. The students will be taken through the entire design process. Starting withthe user requirements the course will take the students through the front end design cycle, thephysical design, the fabrication process and testing. The laboratories and advanced trainingmaterial will prepare the student for his future career by giving hands on experience with live

    projects using industry standard tools such as the CADENCE TOOLS.

    This course is to prepare the students for a career in the rapidly emerging area of embeddedsystems. The course material covers a combination of advanced real time operating systemsand DSP architectures. The course also gives the student an exposure to specific applicationssuch as mobile communications. The laboratories and training programmes will give hands onexperience on real life processors such as the Power PC, ARM, TI DSPs, ADI DSPs and Microcontrollers. Specific training on common RTOS such as VxWorks and PSOS will be provided.

    This course is designed to expose the students to the general principles of businessmanagement. The subjects covered include economics, legal aspects, organizational behaviour,production, HRD, marketing etc. In addition, the course aims at giving the students analyticalskills and the use of mathematical techniques such as statistics, OR and programming andcomputation techniques. The theoretical aspects are supplemented by, on the job train throughinternship with Global industry. The course also allows the students to get a wide exposure toindustry practices through lectures, seminars, marketing in international market and case studiesby practicing industrial experts. A good management student needs a strong personality andexcellent communication skills to fulfill this objective, CATS included personality development andbusiness communication as a part of the course.

    B.Sc. (Fashion Design)

    This course exposes the students to fashion design and associated fields. Starting with theelements of apparel, history of costumes and art, the course takes the students through practicalaspects such as pattern making, garment construction, accessory design etc. The course alsoexposes the students to business aspects of fashion marketing, merchandising, quality control,consumer behaviours, fashion modeling, communication, CAD Design and fashion trends etc.

    The course lays a lot of emphasis on practical work with industry. The student is expected toproduce term garments, accessories etc. as a part of the course. The final semester is devoted

    to a project which will culminate in a students fashion show judged by a panel of industry experts.

    Miscellaneous

    Internship Programme : The cost incurred during internship for the purpose of travel andaccommodation and procurement of study material for project will be borne by the studentsdirectly.

    Raw Material & Tool kits: Students of Fashion Design will have to pay for all Raw Materials &Tool Kits required for Apparel/Jewellery/Accessory Design/Tableware Design. CATS will arrange

    for the import of the same.

    Education Loans : CATS will provide assistance to obtain Study Loans subject to bank terms.

    Education Methodology

    The courses are designed to provide academics with industry, this is an unique approach dividedin multiple expertise stages.

    Curriculum : The curriculum is designed for PG & UG courses are in depth and innovative.Curriculum is designed by the board of studies of Dr. M.G.R. Deemed University which consistsof academicians, educationist and industry experts. The curriculum is dynamic and is updated

    from time to time in keeping with the requirements of industry.

    Publications : Students will be encouraged to refer Journals, Magazines, and Periodicalsrelevant to their areas to update their knowledge on regular basis.

    Training : The training will use state-of-the-art-teaching methods to ensure student gainscomplete knowledge on subjects trained.

    Case Studies : The case studies will be interactive session which require student involvement toenable the student to acquire knowledge about various relevant issues of industry and problemsolving techniques.

    Internship : The internship program provides on the job training to the student. The student can

    benefit in two ways; (a) It provides the student with a realistic scenario in which to apply hisknowledge (b) Successful completion of the internship could lead to absorption.

    Admission Policies

    Admission : The application should be completed in all respects and the admission cell shouldbe satisfied of the applicants eligibility for admission to the respective course. The admission cellshall grant admission to such applicants who satisfy the university admission requirement in allrespects.

    Provisional Admission : Student awaiting for the results can also apply, the applicant will beadmitted on provisional basis. The admission will be granted by the university only uponsuccessful fulfillment of the admission requirements.

    College Norms :The college norms book will be given to the student, of which explains the rulesand regulation to follow during the tenure of the college. In addition to the college norms theuniversity rules and regulations will also apply.
