Nell’interesse della propria e della altrui sicurezza, e per non invalidare la garanzia, si raccomanda una attenta lettura di questa sezione prima di

utilizzare il prodotto.

Questo apparecchio è stato progettato e costruito per essere utilizzato come sistema di altoparlanti con amplificatore nel contesto tipico di un sistema di amplificazione sonora e/o di un sistema di registrazione sonora. L’utilizzo per scopi diversi da questi non è contemplato dal costruttore, ed avviene pertanto sotto la diretta responsabilità dell’utilizzatore/installatore.Questo apparecchio è conforme alla Classe di isolamento I (deve essere collegato alla presa di rete con un collegamento a terra di protezione).

PER EVITARE IL RISCHIO DI INCENDIO E/O DI FOLGORAZIONE:

• Non esporre il prodotto alla pioggia, non utilizzarlo in presenza di elevata umidità o vicino all’acqua. L’apparecchio non deve essere sottoposto a stillicidio o a spruzzi d’acqua e nessun oggetto pieno di liquido, quali vasi, deve essere posto sull’apparecchio. Non lasciare penetrare all’interno dell’apparecchio alcun liquido, né alcun oggetto solido. In caso ciò avvenga, scollegare immediatamente l’apparecchio dalla rete elettrica e rivolgersi ad un servizio di assistenza qualificato prima di adoperarlo nuovamente. Non appoggiare candele accese o altre sorgenti di fiamma nuda sopra l’apparecchio.

• Prima di collegare l’apparecchio alla rete elettrica assicurarsi che la tensione corrisponda a quella indicata sull’apparecchio stesso.

• Collegare questo apparecchio esclusivamente ad una presa di corrente dotata di contatto di terra, rispondente alle norme di sicurezza vigenti, tramite il cavo di alimentazione in dotazione. Nel caso in cui il cavo necessiti di sostituzione, utilizzare esclusivamente un cavo di identiche caratteristiche.

• L’apparecchio è collegato alla rete anche quando l’interruttore di rete è in posizione ’0’ (spento) e la spia luminosa è spenta. All’interno sono presenti potenziali elettrici pericolosi. Prima di qualunque intervento di manutenzione, scollegare il cavo di alimentazione dalla presa di rete.

• Non appoggiare alcun oggetto sul cavo di alimentazione. Non posarlo dove possa costituire intralcio e causare inciampo. Non schiacciarlo e non calpestarlo.

• Installare questo apparecchio prevedendo ampio spazio circostante per un’abbondante circolazione d’aria, necessaria al raffreddamento. Non ostruire le aperture o le prese d’aria presenti sull’apparecchio. Lasciare spazio sufficiente per accedere alla presa di alimentazione elettrica e al connettore di rete sul pannello posteriore.

• In caso di sostituzione del fusibile esterno, utilizzare esclusivamente un fusibile di caratteristiche identiche, come riportato sull’apparecchio.

• Prima di effettuare qualsiasi operazione di collegamento, assicurarsi che l’interruttore di accensione dell’apparecchio sia in posizione ’0’.

• Prima di effettuare qualsiasi spostamento del prodotto già installato o in funzione, rimuovere tutti i cavi di collegamento.

• Per scollegare l’apparecchio dalla rete elettrica, non tirare mai lungo il cavo, ma afferrarlo sempre per il connettore.

ATTENzIONEQuesto apparecchio non contiene parti interne destinate all’intervento diretto da parte dell’utilizzatore. Per evitare il rischio di incendio e/o folgorazione, non smontarlo e non rimuovere il pannello posteriore. Per qualsiasi intervento di manutenzione o riparazione, rivolgetevi alla Elettronica Montarbo srl e/o a personale altamente qualificato specificamente segnalato da questa.

• Nel predisporre l’apparecchio all’utilizzo, assicurarsi che la forma e la portata della superficie di appoggio siano idonee a sostenerlo, considerando sia il peso che l’ingombro del prodotto. Nel caso si desideri installare la cassa su di un’asta di supporto, utilizzarne una di portata adeguata al peso del prodotto, inserendola nell’apposito adattatore. Nel caso si sovrappongano due casse, assicurarsi che la stabilità sia garantita dall’incastro tra i piedini della cassa superiore e gli incavi di quella inferiore.

• Per evitare urti, calci, inciampi, riservate come luogo per l’installazione del prodotto un’area protetta inaccessibile a personale non qualificato. • Questo prodotto è in grado di generare pressioni acustiche molto elevate, pericolose per la salute del sistema uditivo. Evitarne quindi l’utilizzo ad elevati livelli acustici se il pubblico si trova eccessivamente vicino al prodotto. Qualora l’apparecchio venga utilizzato in presenza di bambini e animali, si rende necessaria una strettissima sorveglianza.[!] Non esporre i bambini a forti sorgenti sonore.

1.1 Introduzione al sistema NM815 Il sistema di diffusori stereo NM815 è caratterizzato da una filosofia di progettazione acustica ed elettronica che si distingue per la meticolosa selezione dei componenti, dei materiali e delle tecniche costruttive, con una grande attenzione ai dettagli.

Gli altoparlanti sono stati progettati con estrema cura e costruiti in Italia per ottenere le migliori prestazioni ed il massimo dell'affidabilità: ∙ Subwoofer al neodimio, ventilato, ad altissimo flusso magnetico

(NM15SA). ∙ Woofer e HF driver in ferrite (NM8Bi).

Il sistema NM815 è facilmente trasportabile ed installabile da una sola persona.Altissime prestazioni, con pesi e dimensioni molto contenuti, grazie all’amplificazione in classe D efficacemente gestita da due distinti DSP che permettono il controllo di tutte le funzioni del sistema e 4 preset a disposizione che consentono di adattare il timbro del diffusore al proprio gusto personale.

1.2 Applicazioni

Il sistema stereo attivo a 3 vie NM815 nasce per il piano-bar di qualità,per la diffusione di musica riprodotta in club e luoghi di aggregazione,per il live acustico e semi-acustico. La sua compattezza permette unanotevole portatilità pur fornendo potenza adeguata in una vasta gamma di applicazioni.

NM815 è composto da 3 elementi: 1 bass cabinet attivo e 2 satelliti biampflificati. Il bass cabinet attivo NM15SA incorpora tutta l’elettronica necessaria al processamento e all’amplificazione dell’intero sistema: 5 amplificatori in classe D per una potenza totale di 1600 W EIAJ:1) 800 W subwoofer2) 350 W woofer Left3) 350 W woofer Right4) 50 W driver Left5) 50 W driver Right con alimentazione switching e controllati dal doppio DSP Montarbo®.

È dotato di un woofer da 15", con bobina da 3" e magnete al neodimio schermato e ventilato.Il satellite biamp NM8Bi è un bass reflex a 2 vie, dotato di un wooferda 8" con bobina da 2,5" e magnete in ferrite e di un driver con gola da 1", bobina da 1,4".

Il doppio processore permette di fruire dei vantaggi del filtraggio FIR mantenendo bassissima la latenza (PPF system) e consente una estesa gamma dinamica grazie all’architettura CCDE system che riduce drasticamente il rischio di saturazione di input.

[1] AC LINE IN. Connettore di ingresso alimentazione. Collegarlo alla presa di alimentazione utilizzando solamente il cavo di alimentazione fornito in dotazione o un cavo di alimentazione dotato di conduttore di terra e riportante i marchi di sicurezza applicabili nel paese di impiego, con conduttori di sezione adeguata alla corrente assorbita e spina di alimentazione certificata per questo valore di corrente. Nell'installazione del diffusore, accertarsi che sia possibile accedere facilmente a questo connettore e alla presa di alimentazione elettrica.

[2] Interruttore di rete. [3] Connettore ingresso LEFT. È un connettore XLR femmina a 3 poli,

bilanciato, al quale possono essere collegate sorgenti bilanciate o sbilanciate. Ad esso va collegato il cavo proveniente dal master LEFT del mixer.

[4] Connettore ingresso RIGHT. È un connettore XLR femmina a 3 poli, bilanciato, al quale possono essere collegate sorgenti bilanciate o sbilanciate. Ad esso va collegato il cavo proveniente dal master RIGHT del mixer.

[5] Connettore LINK dell'ingresso LEFT. È collegato in parallelo al connettore di ingresso [3] e permette di inviare il segnale ad altre apparecchiature (ad esempio altri diffusori amplificati).

[6] Connettore LINK dell'ingresso RIGHT. È collegato in parallelo al connettore di ingresso [4] e permette di inviare il segnale ad altre apparecchiature (ad esempio altri diffusori amplificati).

[7] Controllo di volume generale. Regola il volume del sistema.[8] Controllo bilanciamento del subwoofer. Permette di variare il rapporto

tra sub e satelliti con un'escursione di 18 dB.[9] Connettore uscita LEFT. È un connettore speakON® a 4 poli

[A] LED bicolore (Sig/Lim) dell'ingresso LEFT: se verde indica la presenza di segnale in ingresso, se rosso indica indica l'approssimarsi alla saturazione (clipping) dello stadio di ingresso del canale Left. Può rimanere acceso in assenza di segnale fino alla successiva indicazione valida.

[B] LED bicolore (Sig/Lim) dell'ingresso RIGHT: se verde indica la presenza di segnale in ingresso, se rosso indica indica l'approssimarsi alla saturazione (clipping) dello stadio di ingresso del canale Right. Può rimanere acceso in assenza di segnale fino alla successiva indicazione valida.

[c] LED verde (Pwr on). Indica la corretta alimentazione del sistema.[D] LED rosso (Prot). Indica che è intervenuto un circuito di protezione

degli amplificatori di potenza. La causa può essere un eccesso di temperatura, di corrente di uscita o uno sbalzo della tensione di alimentazione.

[E] LED rosso (Sub Lim). Indica l'approssimarsi alla saturazione (clipping) dell'amplificatore del subwoofer.

NM15SA – Preset

[P1] [P2] [P3] [P4] Questi LED verdi indicano il preset attivo corrente. Il sistema si accende con l’ultimo preset selezionato. Ad ogni pressione del tasto [PRESET] viene caricato il preset successivo. Il caricamento del preset richiede circa un secondo durante il quale il sistema è muto.

2.2 NM8Bi – diffusori a due vie passivi

[H] Driver con gola da 1" e bobina da 1,4". Tromba a direttività costante 90° x 60° (integrata nello stampo del cabinet).

3.1 Installazione

Posare il bass cabinet NM15SA a terra o sul piano del palco. Scegliere una posizione di montaggio sicura, in modo da evitare che i cavi possano essere calpestati o creare rischi di inciampo. Accertarsi che la forma e la portata delle superfici di appoggio siano tali da garantire un appoggio sicuro.Se il sub o i satelliti sono appoggiati su una superficie, assicurarsi che i cavi

di collegamento siano posti in posizione protetta, in modo tale che, in casodi inciampo nei cavi, i diffusori non possano essere fatti cadere. I diffusori NM8Bi possono essere montati su aste di supporto standard, utilizzando gli adattatori incorporati – [O] pagina 8. Collegare tra loro i componenti del sistema come nella figura successiva.

COLLEGAMENTO ALLA RETE ∙ Accertarsi che l’interruttore di rete sia in posizione "0". ∙ Accertarsi che la tensione di alimentazione corrisponda a quella indicata sul pannello (sotto la presa per il cavo di alimentazione).

∙ Collegare il cavo di alimentazione ad una presa di corrente dotata di contatto di terra di sicura efficienza. Utilizzare solamente il cavo di alimentazione fornito con l’apparecchio o un altro dotato di contatto di terra e riportante i marchi di sicurezza applicabili nel paese di impiego.

∙ Lasciare spazio sufficiente per accedere alla presa di alimentazione elettrica e al connettore di rete sul pannello posteriore. All’interno dell’apparecchio possono essere presenti potenziali elettrici pericolosi anche quando l’interruttore di rete è in posizione ’0’ (spento) e la spia luminosa è spenta. Prima di qualunque intervento di manutenzione, scollegare il cavo di alimentazione dalla presa di rete.

COLLEGAMENTO AL MIxER ∙ Se il mixer ha uscite bilanciate XLR: utilizzare dei normali connettori XLR bilanciati.

∙ Se il mixer ha uscite sbilanciate XLR e non è un Montarbo: è bene accertarsi che le uscite XLR del mixer siano sbilanciate a norme IEC 268 e cioè 1 = massa (GND), 2 = caldo (HOT), 3 = massa (GND).

∙ Se il mixer ha uscite JACK bilanciate (Jack stereo): è possibile utilizzare adattatori Jack stereo-XLR bilanciati, a norme IEC 268 e cioè pin 1 = massa, pin 2 = punta, pin 3 = anello.

∙ Se il mixer ha uscite JACK sbilanciate (Jack mono): è possibile utilizzare adattatori Jack-XLR maschio sbilanciati a norme IEC 268 e cioè pin 1 = massa, pin 2 = punta, pin 3 = massa.

∙ Prima di effettuare i collegamenti tra il sistema e il mixer accertarsi che tutti gli interruttori di rete siano spenti. In tal modo si eviteranno fastidiosi rumori e picchi di segnale talvolta pericolosi per le casse stesse.

COLLEGAMENTO SUB/SATELLITI ∙ Per il collegamento tra NM15SA e i due NM8Bi utilizzare solo i cavi in dotazione, nello specifico cavi NON schermati a 4 poli con almeno 1.5 mm2 di sezione.

3.2 cavo di alimentazione

Usare il cavo di alimentazione fornito. Se fosse necessario un altro cavo, utilizzare un cavo di caratteristiche adatte alla corrente assorbita dal sistema.

ATTENZIONELa presa che alimenta il connettore [1], la spina ed il cavo devono essere adatti a trasportare il valore di corrente indicato sul pannello. Nel dubbio, consultare un tecnico qualificato.Si consiglia l'uso di un cavo a tre conduttori di sezione minima 3 x 1,0 mm2

con caratteristiche adatte all'uso e che rispetti le norme di sicurezza in vigore. Il cavo e la spina di alimentazione devono riportare i marchi delle omologazioni di sicurezza validi per la Nazione dove l'apparecchio è utilizzato.

3.3 cablaggio del sistema

COLLEGAMENTO ALLA RETE ∙ Accertarsi che la tensione di alimentazione corrisponda a quella

indicata sul pannello. ∙ Collegare il cavo di alimentazione ad una presa di corrente dotata

di contatto di terra di sicura efficienza.

3.3.1 cablaggio dei cavi di segnaleLe prese di ingresso IN L (4L) ed R (4R) e di LINK (5L) e (5R) sono su connettori XLR 3 poli femmina (IN) e maschi (LINK).Il collegamento segue lo standard IEC 268 (AES1492): pin 1 = massapin 2 = +pin 3 = –Usare solo cavi schermati (cavi di segnale) di adeguata sezione e buona qualità. Le figure seguenti illustrano il collegamento dei connettori.

3.3.2 cablaggio dei connettori speakON®

Per il collegamento dei satelliti NM8Bi al bass cabinet NM15SA utilizzare i cavi in dotazione. Nel caso fosse necessario sostituirli, utilizzare un cavo non schermato (cavo per altoparlanti) di buona qualità e di sezione adeguata (almeno 4 x 1,5 mm2). I connettori sono collegati nel modo seguente: Pin 1+ positivo woofer, Pin 1– negativo woofer,Pin 2+ positivo HF driver, Pin 2– negativo HF driver.

4. Accensione e utilizzo 4.1 Accensione

Prima di effettuare i collegamenti tra diffusori attivi e mixer, assicurarsi che tutti gli interruttori delle casse siano spenti e che il volume del mixersia al minimo.Per evitare sbalzi di segnale, effettuare i collegamenti, poi accendere primail mixer e successivamente i diffusori. Accendere l'apparecchio portandol'interruttore di rete [2] in posizione I (acceso).All'accensione del sistema, si accende il LED [C], al termine dell'avvio si accende il LED corrispondente al preset caricato precedentemente. È possibile che si accendano in modo transitorio i LED [A] e [B] indicando uno "status" pregresso.

È ora possibile usare il sistema. Se necessario, regolare il volume agendo sul potenziometro [7]. Se si desidera cambiare il preset, seguire le istruzioni riportate nel paragrafo successivo.

SENSIBILITà E CLIPPING. COME EVITARE IL CLIPPINGOgni sistema amplificatore-altoparlante è caratterizzato da una sensibilità di ingresso. La sensibilità è definita come il valore del segnale di ingresso all’amplificatore che produce la massima potenza in uscita. Aumentando il segnale oltre tale valore, infatti, non si ottiene una maggiore potenza di uscita, ma soltanto un fenomeno di distorsione detto ’clipping’ (saturazione).

In questa situazione l’altoparlante lavora in modo improprio. Si hanno delle sovraescursioni e una dissipazione anomala nella bobina mobile, che si surriscalda e può rompersi. I processori attivi possono evitare solo parzialmente il clipping, abbassando il guadagno dell’amplificatore.

5. Cura e manutenzione

È possibile, in casi estremi, oltrepassare anche questo tipo di protezione. Ciò che il processore non può modificare è un’onda che arrivi già distorta in ingresso all’amplificatore.

Gli effetti di un segnale di questo tipo sono gli stessi descritti sopra.

COME EVITARE IL CLIPPINGIl metodo più semplice sta nel controllare i livelli della catena del segnale. Partendo dal canale del mixer bisogna impostare i controlli (gain e equalizzatori) in modo tale che il VU-meter del PFL non oltrepassi mai (o solo occasionalmente) gli 0 dB o, in mixer più semplici, che la spia ’clip’ o ’peak’ non si accenda mai (o solo occasionalmente).

Se si oltrepassano tali livelli occorre diminuire il gain del canale. Una volta impostato il giusto mix, bisogna fare attenzione ad impostare l livello di uscita in modo tale che il VU-meter non oltrepassi mai il livello della sensibilità di ingresso della cassa amplificata o del finale di potenza.

This product has been designed and manufactured for being operated as active speaker system in the applications tipical of a sound reinforcement system or of a sound recording system. Operation for purposes and applications other than these has not been covered by the manufacturer in the design of the product, and is therefore to be undertaken at end user’s and/or installer’s sole risk and responsability.

This unit conforms to Class I insulation, and for safe use it is required that the protective earth contact is connected to a grounded (earthed) outlet.

TO AVOID THE RISK OF FIRE AND/OR ELECTRIC SHOCK:

• Never expose this product to rain or moisture, never use it in proximity of water or on a wet surface. Avoid dripping water or water sprays, moreover never place objects full of liquid, such as vases, on top of it. Never let any liquid, as well as any object, enter the product. 1.1 Introduction to NM815 system The NM815 stereo active speaker system features a revolutionary new concept in acoustic and electronic design characterized by painstaking attention in terms of component selection, materials and production techniques. The result is a product of absolutely contemporary, essential and rigorous design, with great attention to detail.

All the system’s drivers have been designed with great attention to details and custom-built specifically for this system in Italy, in order to provide the highest performances with the top-level reliability: ∙ Vented neodymium subwoofers with with very high magnetic flux (NM15SA).

∙ Ferrite HF drivers and woofers (NM8Bi).

The portability has been optimized: all systems may be carried and installed by a single person.Very high levels of performance, despite their remarkably small size and low weight, thanks to the class-D power amplification controlled by two different DSP processors, which manage the functions of the whole system.Four presets allow to modify the loudspeaker timbre as required.

1.2 Applications

The stereo active three-way NM815 system has been designed for use in small quality venues, for reproducing recorded music in clubs and other entertainment venues and for live performances of acoustic and semi-acoustic music. Its small size and light weight allow a sensible portability, providing though a suitable power for a wide range of applications.

NM815 system consists of 3 elements: 1 active bass cabinet and 2 bi-amplified satellites. The active bass cabinet NM15SA enclosures all electronics required for processing and amplifying the whole system:5 class-D amps delivering 1600 W EIAJ total power1) 800 W subwoofer2) 350 W left woofer3) 350 W right woofer4) 50 W left driver5) 50 W right driver with switching power supply, ontrolled by two Montarbo® DSPs.

The system features a 15" woofer, 3" voice coil with shielded and vented neodymium magnet.

The biamp satellite NM8Bi is a 2-way bass-reflex enclosure, featuring a 8" woofer with 2,5" voice coil and ferrite magnet, together with a 1"-throat driver and 1,4" voice coil.

The double processor provides FIR filtering keeping latence at very low levels (PPF system) and allows a wide dynamic range thanks to the CCDE system which prevents from input clipping risk.

[1] AC LINE IN. AC line input connector. Connect it to the mains socket using only a mains cable with suitable conductors capable of handling the current involved, equipped with a ground conductor, marked with the applicable, country specific, safety approvals and fitted with a power plug certified for the actual current value. When installing the speaker system, make sure that it is easy to get to this socket and to the mains plug.

[2] Mains ON/OFF switch. [3] LEFT input connector. It is a 3-pin female XLR balanced connector,

that may be fed by both balanced or unbalanced sources. To be wired to the LEFT master of the mixer.

[4] RIGHT input connector. It is a 3-pin female XLR balanced connector, that may be fed by both balanced or unbalanced sources. To be wired to the RIGHT master of the mixer.

[5] LEFT input LINK connector. It is wired in parallel to the input connector [3] and it makes possible to send the input signal to other equipment (usually to other self-powered speaker systems).

[6] RIGHT input LINK connector. It is wired in parallel to the input connector [4] and it makes possible to send the input signal to other equipment (usually to other self-powered speaker systems).

[7] Master volume control that adjusts the system's volume.[8] Subwoofer balance control. It allows the subwoofer/satellite balance

3.1 Installation

Place the NM15SA to ground or on the stage floor. Make sure that the installation position is a protected one so that the cables cannot be trampled or tripped on. Make sure that the shape and load rating of the mounting surface are suitable for a safe installation.If the subwoofer or the satellites are placed over a surface, make sure

that the cables are placed in a protected position to avoid the risk of the speakers falling over if somebody trips over them. The NM8Bi speakers may be placed over standard speaker stands using the built-in speaker-stand adapter – [O] page 20. Wire all the system's components as described in the following figure.

POWER SUPPLy CONNECTION ∙ Make sure the mains power switch is OFF (’0’). ∙ Check that mains voltage corresponds to the voltage indicated on the panel, under the mains socket.

∙ Use only the factory supplied mains cable or, if a different plug style is needed, a suitable cable with a ground connection and marked with the safety approvals valid in the country of use.

∙ Leave enough room to get to the mains power socket and the mains connector on the back panel. As long as it is plugged in there can be potentially dangerous electrical potentials inside the device, even when the mains switch is in the ’0’ (OFF) position and the power indicator is off so, before undertaking any sort of maintenance work etc., always make sure it has been unplugged from the mains socket.

COLLEGAMENTO AL MIxER ∙ Always use only heavy gauge, high quality SHIELDED cables (signal cables). ∙ Always make sure that the mixer and the powered enclosures are switched off before connecting them. This will to avoid annoying noises and signal

peaks, which can also be dangerous for the enclosures themselves. ∙ Always make sure that the ’Line/mic’ switch is up. ∙ If the mixer has XLR balanced outputs: use standard balanced XLR connectors.

∙ If the mixer has XLR unbalanced outputs: in this case, unless using a Montarbo® mixer, make sure that the XLR outputs on the mixer are unbalanced to IEC 268 standard: 1 = GND, 2 = HOT, 3 = GND.

∙ If the mixer has JACK balanced outputs (stereo jacks): it is possible to use stereo Jack-stereo Jack cables or stereo jack-XLR adapters, wired according to IEC 268: pin 1 = ground (sleeve), pin 2 = tip, pin 3 = ring.

∙ If the mixer has JACK unbalanced outputs (mono jacks): use suitable Jack-XLR male adapters unbalanced according to IEC 268: pin 1 = ground, pin 2 = tip, pin 3 = ground

CONNECTION SUBWOOFER/SATELLITES ∙ Make sure to connect the NM15SA subwoofer to the two NM8Bi satellites using only the included cables, specifically UNSHIELDED 4-pole cables featuring a 1.5 mm2 section, at least.

3.2 Ac mains supply cable

Use the cable supplied with the system. If another cable is needed, alwaysuse a cable with specifications suitable to the value of the current involved,considering the current drain of the system.

CAUTIONThe AC socket that powers connector [1], the mating plug and the cable must be suitable for the current value indicated on panel. When in doubt, always recruit the assistance of a qualified technician.We suggest the use of a 3-conductor cable, with a 3 x 1.0 mm2 minimum copper section (gauge), suitable for the intended application and environment and complying with all the relevant safety regulations.The cable and the plug must be marked with the applicable, country specific safety approvals, and the plug must be certified for the actual current value.

3.3 System wiring

AC mains connection ∙ Make sure that the AC line voltage value corresponds to the one indicated on rear panel.

∙ Connect the mains supply cable to a socket fitted with a proven ground contact.

3.3.1 Wiring of signal cablesThe input sockets IN (4L) and (4R) and the LINK sockets (5L) and (5R) are XLR 3 pole connectors, female (IN) and male (LINK). They are wired according to IEC 268 (AES1492) standards: pin 1 = groundpin 2 = hot +pin 3 = cold –Use only screened cables (signal cables) of suitable size and quality. Connector wiring is illustrated in the following images.

3.3.2 speakON® connector wiring

In order to connect the NM8Bi satellites to the NM15SA bass cabinet use the provided cables. In case new cables are required, make sure specifically unshielded cable (specific for loudspeakers) featuring good quality and 4 x 1.5 mm2 section, at least. Connectors should be as following: Pin 1+ positive woofer, Pin 1– negative woofer,Pin 2+ positive HF driver, Pin 2– negative HF driver.

4. Operation 4.1 Powering on

Before connecting the active speaker systems to a mixer, make sure thatall the active speaker's power switches are in the OFF position and that the mixer's master faders are at their minimum position. To avoid signal peaks, first make the connections, then switch on the mixer first and after the active speakers.Switch on the system by setting the mains power switch [2] to the ON position. When switched on, the LED [C] will light up. After the system boot the corresponding LED lights up, indicating the active preset (the same it had been loaded before switching off).

It may occurs that LEDs [A] and [B] light up for a while, indicating a previous "status".

it is now possible to use the system. If needed, the volume may be adjusted with the potentiometer [7]. If a different preset must be loaded, follow the procedure described in the following paragraph.

4.2 Loading a preset from control panel

PRODUCT CARE AND MAINTENANCE ∙ Never expose the enclosure to heat sources (heaters or other products that produce heat).

∙ Avoid operating and storing the enclosure in damp or dusty places: this may lead to malfunctions and premature degrading of specifications.

∙ Avoid using the enclosure close to strong sources of electromagnetic interferences (e.g. video monitors, high power electrical cabling). This may lead to degradation of audio quality.

∙ When setting up the system up outdoors, be sure to protect it against rain.

∙ Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquid is not spilled onto the enclosure. In public event don’t let people, musicians, technicians or anyone put glasses, cups, ashtrays or cigarettes on the enclosure.

∙ Always leave the protective grid mounted on the enclosure. ∙ Use a soft brush or a jet of air to clean the enclosure. Do not use alcohol, solvents or detergents.

∙ Take care of your connector cables. Make sure that they are not damaged, knotted or twisted.

∙ Do not force connectors and controls. ∙ Make sure the mains power switch is OFF (’0’) before starting any connection.

∙ As long as it is plugged in there can be potentially dangerous electrical potentials inside the device, so, before undertaking any sort of maintenance work etc., always make sure it has been unplugged from the mains socket.

PARALLEL CONNECTION OF TWO OR MORE SySTEMS:Always make sure to use only heavy gauge, high quality SHIELDED cables. Connect the output of the first system to the input of the second one the output of the second system to the input of the third one and so on.❯❯❯ See page 30.

INPUT SENSITIVITy AND CLIPPING. Every amplified speaker system is characterized by a value of input sensitivity. The sensitivity is defined as the value of the amplifier’s input signal that will result in maximum power output. An increase in input signal over that threshold will result, not in increased power, but in a distortion phenomenon called ’clipping’ (output stage saturation).

In this condition, the speaker will operate improperly. The diaphragm will exceed it’s excursion limits, and the voice coil will overheat beyond it’s thermal limits, resulting in overheating and premature failure. The active processors will help in avoiding clipping, by reducing the amplifier gain and thus the input sensitivity, but this type of protections may be overridden in very extreme conditions.

5. Care and maintenance

What the active processor cannot modify is a signal that is distorted before getting to the active speaker’s input.

The effects of this type of signal are the same as described above.

How to avoid clippingThe simplest way to avoid clipping is to check each level in the signal’s chain. Start from each input channel of the mixer and adjust the gain control and the equalizer’s controls so that the PFL meter will never (or only occasionally) indicate more than 0 dB. In simpler mixers, check that the ’clip’ or ’peak’ indicator is always off, or blinks only occasionally.

If these levels are exceeded, reduce the channel’s input gain. Once the desired mix is obtained, adjust the output level so that it never exceeds the active speaker’s or the power amplifier’s input sensitivity, as displayed on the master output VU-meter.

WARNING!In order to protect your own and other's safety and to avoid invalidation of the warranty of this product, please read this section carefully before operating this product.

This product has been designed and manufactured for being operated as active speaker system in the applications typical of a sound reinforcement system or a sound recording system. Operation for purposes and in applications other than these has not been covered by the manufacturer in the design of the product, and is therefore to be undertaken at end user's and/or installer's sole risk and responsabiIity.

TO AVOID THE RISK OF FIRE AND/OR ELECTRIC SHOCK:The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus. Never let any liquid, as well as any object, enter the product. In case, immediately disconnect it from the mains supply and refer to servicing before operating it again.

This unit conforms to CLASS I insulation, and for safe use it is required that the protective earth contact is connected to a grounded (earthed) outlet.

Never place burning candles or other sources of open flame on top of the device.

Before connecting this product to the mains supply, always make sure that the voltage on the mains outlet corresponds to that stated on the product.

This product must be connected only to a grounded mains outlet complying to the safety regulations in force via the supplied power cable.

In case the power cable needs to be substituted, use exclusively a cable of the same type and characteristics.

This device is connected to the power line even when the mains switch is in the 'O' (=off) position and the power indicator is off. As long as it is plugged in there are dangerous electrical potentials inside the device, so, before undertaking any sort of maintenance work etc., always make sure it has been unplugged from the mains socket.

Never place any object on the power cable. Never lay the power cable on a walkway where one could trip over it. Never press or pinch it.

Never install the product without providing adequate air flow to cool it.Never obstruct the air intake openings on it. Leave enough room to get to the mains power socket and the mains connector on the back panel.

In case the external fuse needs replacement, substitute it only with one of the same type and rating, as stated on the product.Always make sure the Power switch is in its 'O' (=off) position before doing any operation on the connections of the product.

Before attempting to move the product after it has been installed, remove alI the connections.

To disconnect the power cable of this product from the mains supply never pull the cable directly. Hold the body of the plug firmly and pull it gently from the mains supply outlet.

CAUTION!This product does not contain user serviceable parts.To prevent fire and/or electrical shock, never disassemble it or remove the rear panel. For maintenance and servicing always refer to the official Montarbo Distributor in your Country or to qualified personnel specifically authorized by the Distributor. Before placing the product on a surface of any kind, make sure that its shape and load rating safely match the product size and weight. Never attempt to hang the product by any means not expressly provided or approved by the manufacturer (i.e. ropes, chains, belts or whatever medium, through carrying handles, bolts, hooks or whatever). In case the product is factory-fitted with specific mounting hardware, always verify before installation that the lifting and/or hanging system you intend to use is of a proper type and can carry the product weight with the safety ratio required by the regulations in force.

To avoid shocks, kicks, or whatever action, always reserve a protected area with no access to unqualified personnel as installation site of the product. In case the product is used near children and animals, closest supervision is necessary.

This product can generate very high acoustic pressures which are dangerous for the hearing system. Always avoid operation at loud levels if anyone is excessively near to the product (at least 1 m of distance).

Never expose children to high sound sources.
