ABOUT THE COMPANY
Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited, a Navratna
Government of India Enterprise, under the administrative
control of MOC has a chequered history of achievements in
the last 56 years since its inception in 1956.
A pioneer among the public sector undertakings in energy
sector, NLC operates
Three Opencast Lignite Mines of total capacity of 28.5
Million Tonnes per Annum at Neyveli and one open cast
lignite Mine of capacity 2.1 Million Tonnes per Annum at
Barsingsar, Rajasthan.

PRODUCTS
The main core activity of NLC is LigniteExcavation and power generation usinglignite excavated. NLC is having lignite
mining units named as Mine I, Mine II, MineIA and Barsingsar Mine.
Also raw lignite is being sold to small scale
industries to use it as fuel in their productionactivities.

Shri.B.SURENDER MOHAN, Chairman-Cum-
Managing Director:
Shri.B.Surender Mohan aged 57 years is a Mining
Engineer and a Holder of First Class
Managers Certificateof Competency in Mining.
Shri.B.Surender Mohan has vast experience mining
industry and has held various positions in other PSUs
before joining NLC in the year 1998. Shri.B.SurenderMohan assumed charge as Director(Mines)
w.e.f.01.05.2008 and as CMD w.e.f. 01.07.2012.

RESEARCH&DEVELOPEMENTS:
Centre for Applied Research & Development (CARD) is the
in-house R&D Centre of Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited and
has been recognized by the Department of Science & Technology
since 1975.
The testing and R&D facilities were upgraded under a project
(LERI) sponsored by United Nations Industrial Development
Organization (UNIDO), Vienna during 1995 - 2000. The main
objective was to strengthen CARD to improve its capability to
provide analytical, environmental monitoring, R&D, technology
and services to industry and the Government.
