NL4-FA�Option�:�Teleflex��

Attach�the�NL4.�

Remove�the�Speedo’s�mounting�bracket�if�required.�Loosen�the�nut,�

and�remove�the�paddlewheel�wire�from�the�Speedo�Signal�(SEND�)�

stud.�In�its�place,�attach�the�NL4’s�Green�wire.�Secure�the�Red�wire�

(along�with�any�existing�wires)�under�the�nut�at�the�power�(IGN)��

stud.�Repeat�for�the�Black�wire�on�the�Ground�(GND)��stud.�

Option:�Adding�a�new�Speedometer�Gauge.�

If�you’re�adding�a�Teleflex�E-Speedo,�that’s�completely�new�to�your�

dash,�then�more�wiring�is�required.�To�Energize�the�Speedo�gauge�

and�NL4,�locate�a�source�of�Key-switched��12Vdc�power.�This�must�

be�connected�to�the�IGN�stud;�search�the�other�dash�devices�for�a�

good�tap-in�point.�Also�wire�the�speedo’s�GND�stud�to�boat’s�power�

Common�or�Battery-.�Finally,�connect�the�Dash-Lights�to�the�

speedo’s�Light�(LT)�stud;�again�search�for�a�tie-in�source�from�the�

other�Dash�gauges.�

Playback�Mode�and�Speedometer�Calibration.�

• Force�the�NL4�into�Playback�Mode:�a. With�the�power�off,�and�the�GPS�unplugged,�insert�a�jumper�wire�

(24awg)�into�the�PS2�connector�as�depicted.�Be�CAREFUL�to�insert�

the�wire�into�the�correct�two�contacts�ONLY!!!�

b. Normal�operation�is�suspended�while�the�jumper�is�in�play.�

c. Remove�the�jumper�when�done�with�this�mode.�

d. Power�up�the�NL4�and�Speedo;�the�engine�remains�off!��Observe�

the�speed�report:�Every�15�seconds�the�speed�will�climb�6�MPH,��(�targets�of�6,�12,�18,�24,�30,�42,�and�48)��and�cycle�over�again.�

e. Should�the�needle�not�land�on�a�target�to�your�satisfaction,�then�a�

calibration�may�improve�it.�

• To�Calibrate:�a. Remove�power.�b. �For�ease,�free�the�Speedo�from�the�Dash,�yet�leave�all�the�wires�attached.��c. Restore�power.��(Engine�is�OFF).�d. Thread�a�very�small�(narrow)�flat-blade�screwdriver�into�CAL�hole�on�the�backside,�and�seat�it�into�the�‘tuner’�slot.�

e. Observe�the�needle�cycling�thru�the�multiples�of�6�MPH.���f. While�the�needle�is�stationary�near�a�target,�mildly�twist�the�tuner�to�improve�the�needle-to-target�registration.�

�Note:�the�tuner�may�affect�some�speeds�to�a�different�degree.�View�all�speeds�before�making�further�adjustments.�g. Strive�for�a�best�fit�amongst�all�speeds…�for�these�older�gauges�are�uniquely�different�and�a�perfect�match�at�all�targets�is�

unlikely.�
