Boodabee Class Hello families of the Boodabee (Koala) Class. Thank you for a wonderful first week where students were organised with water bottles, healthy (wrapper free) food, shoes and bags. It was lovely to meet you all – welcome to Kindergarten! Learning Focus This term, we will be exploring “Our Universe” – getting to know each other and learning how to work together. We will be reading Australian stories including Snugglepot and Cuddlepie and books by Pamela Allen. The first sounds we will learn are s, a, p and t. When we blend these sounds together, we can make words like at, sat and pat. We will be looking for words that start with s, a, p and t by playing games like “I spy” and Treasure Hunt. Our play-based learning sessions will have a Maths focus where the students’ interests will

be linked to counting, reading and working with numbers. Morning Drop- Please support your child’s transition into kindergarten by following this morning routine: Arrive 8:45 – allow for some time to connect with friends and teacher and settle before the bell; classroom will be closed – place school bag neatly along railings. Bell 9:05 Say good-bye to your child and re-assure them that you will be back later to pick them up at 2:45. Please be on time. Looking forward to seeing you all at the Meet and Greet. Many thanks, Jessica

Reminders: Spare clothes Spare underwear and clothes, kept in a plastic bag in your child’s school bag is very handy for accidents, wet weather and dips in the creek. Toys at School Please leave toys at home – there are many things to play with at school. Students know that school toys are to stay at school – please return any toys that may find their way home.

Middle Gooyarnj Class

Hello Tuntable Falls Families

I am so happy and excited to be a part of this wonderful school and community, and am enjoying getting to know your beautiful children. This year the Gooyarnj class will be taking a journey through the elements - Earth, Water, Fire and Air. In term one we will be exploring Earth and Space. The class will study the daily changing environment –taking photos and monitoring daily rain fall and temperatures. We will map the phases of the moon and learn about the relationship between the Earth, Moon and Sun. By chasing our shadows and employing the sun we will create unique works of art. In the garden we will be working with Ginger and the whole school every Tuesday an Thursday morning, preparing for the first plantings of the year. Watching and working with the gardens cycles to inform us in our earthly investigations. Literacy and numeracy will be a priority throughout all our learning with targeted lessons throughout the week and guided reading and word work daily. If you would like your child to have a levelled home reader for 5-10 min reading practice every evening please let me know and I will put it into the weekly routine.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and if you ever have any questions or concerns, or you would just like to have a chat please don’t hesitate to come and say hi or make a time to meet.

Ishta

Reminders: MOON DIARIES – On Wednesday 5th February the Gooyarnj Class will all bring home a Moon Diary. Please help your child to complete this diary by looking at the moon with them every night while they draw the shape of the moon into their diary and record the date (or if it’s cloudy). The Moon Diary will record one full moon cycle from the 5th February to the 5th March. Don’t forget to howl at the moon when it’s full!

Upper Goodaman Class Well If this year is going to be anything like this first week, then it promises to be an outstanding time at Tuntable Falls Community School. The more people of this school community I meet, the luckier I feel to be part of it. With some new faces in the staff, me being the newest, we have started the year learning new routines and processes, and getting to know where we are heading and how we will get there. The most exciting part of my first week was discovering the marimba collection, and then discovering that our students were capable of learning to play them. The Goodaman Class is quickly moving towards an impressive repertoire, in between all of our other activities. I have had a wonderful welcome to the school and I am very grateful to all of those parents, staff and students who have made it such an enjoyable experience. Thank you. Joe

Reminders: Karate for Goodaman Class will be every second week, on the ODD numbered weeks for Terms 1, 2 and 3. So We have Karate on Weeks 3, 5, 7 and 9.

Lisa Boyd Hello all! My name is Lisa Boyd. I am working at your amazing school this year. I would like to thank you for the wonderful welcome. It has been lovely to see some known faces and meet new people in the last week. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about myself. My husband, Steve and I live at Stony Chute with our little people Ezekiel and Eulalie, and our sheep, chooks, and ducks. We have been here for a year and a half. I grew up in Lismore and always hoped to return to the region. We came here after 7 eventful years in a remote community in the NorthernTerritory. I have been teaching for 18 years in a variety of settings and roles. This has included in rural, urban, and remote settings as a teacher, Assistant Principal, Inclusion Support teacher, and Curriculum Support teacher. Nicola: (02) 6689012 There are a few overdue items from last year. Notes have been sent home with book names. Garden News Welcome back Ginger! We are happy to have Ginger teaching all classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. (part days) Summer greetings from the Garden! Nerelle, the children and I have begun to harvest and revitalise the school garden after the very hot, dry summer break, with a focus on leaving our spaces better than how we arrived in them. We have harvested many Tomatoes and Cow Pea’s, saving the seeds for the future. The Chook’s are healthy and happy to have the children back, thank you to all who assisted in keeping their water topped up over the school holidays. The Goodaman Class have begun measuring and planning the bush tucker food forest, pending permission from the Tuntable Falls Co-Op tribal meeting. I am looking forward to upholding the integrity of the beautiful SEE program this year with our new teaching staff, new children and new parents. Welcome. Peace, love and cow pea’s. Ginger
