Fields of applicationRichter butterfly valves haveproved successful inthousands of installations ina wide variety of processplants.• Shut-off, throttling and

control of corrosive and pure liquids, gases and vapours.

• Also suitable for free-flowing, low-abrasive bulkmaterials in the version with the metallic disc/stem unit.

• FDA-compliant, wetted materials permit use in food processing, pharmaceutical and similar applications.

• The short face-to-face butterfly valves are advantageous in confinedspaces - e.g. under vessels.

• Butterfly valves are economical valves:easy to install and dismantle, low-priced.

Operating range• operating temperature

-60 to + 200°C(-75 to + 400°F)

• operating pressure0.1 mbar vacuum to 10 bar(0.00145 psia to 145 psig)

Product features• Soft-sealing and gas-tight,

both with lined and metallic disc/stem units

• Leak-tight to the atmosphere in line with the requirements of the ”TA-Luft” (German Clean Air Act) at DN 50 -300 (2”- 12”) with optional safety stuffing box

• Leakage rate in the seat toDIN 3230 Part 3, leakage rate 1: gas-tight

• Short face-to-face:ISO 5752 series 20,API 609 Table 1,MSS SP-67 Table 3

• Flanges (with lug-style anddouble-flange bodies) forconnection to ISO 7005-2PN 10, ANSI B16.5 Class 150, JIS R 2210-10K

• Almost equal-percentage characteristics

• Anti-adhesive wetted surfaces thanks to PFA / PTFE

• External corrosion protection: epoxy coating, stainless steel nuts and bolts

• Identification of the valvesto DIN EN 19, ANSI B16.34

• Actuation:• hand lever, lockable• worm gear with

handwheel• pneumatic/electric

actuators• valve with centering

according to ISO 5211

or alternatively• made of metallic

materials• stainless steel 1.4408

(≈316) investment cast or Hastelloy C4 (2.4610)

• polished sealing surfaces, thus very low friction values

• polished disc surfaces onrequest

• other materials(e.g. Alloy) on request

Wide sealing surfaces ofthe body lining for reliablesealing even with matingflanges with large radii, e.g.glass-lined components.

Thick-walled virgin PTFElining of the valve body• Lining thickness 3 - 3.5 mm• High permeation

resistance• Vacuum-tight• Optionally antistatic lining

for explosion-hazardous applications

Pressure-bearing bodymade of ductile cast ironEN-JS 1049 (formerly:0.7043, GGG-40.3), PN 10• absorbs system and piping

forces• centers the valve in the

Disc/stem uniteither• lined with virgin PFA

fluoroplasticThe combination of a PFAdisc/stem unit with a PTFEbody provides very low friction and torques during the opening and closing processes, minimum wear and a longservice life

• Optionally antistatic PFA lining

Depending on the bodyversion, these butterflyvalves can be installed• as a wafer-style

butterfly valve (”sandwich-type butterfly valve”) with all three body designs or

• as a flange or dead-endbutterfly valve with lug-style and double-flange body.

Connection worm gear with handwheel in standard versionand in the version ”with safety stuffing box“.

As the distance between the centre of gravity and the butterfly valveincreases, the actuator exerts an increasing bending moment on thestem. Admissible actuator weights on request.

Depending on the bodyversion, the butterfly valvescan be installed• as a wafer-style

butterfly valve (”sandwich-type butterfly valve“) with all three body designs or

• as a flange-mounted or dead-end butterfly valve with lug-style and double-flange body.

See page 5 for flange holesand threads for connectionto ISO, ANSI and JIS.

Wafer-style bodyThe flangeless butterfly valveis fixed between 2 flanges bypipe bolts.

Lug-style bodyThe lugs are providedalternatively with• Through holes:

The butterfly valve is centered in the holes by the pipe bolts and securedby the pipe flanges.

Double-flange bodyFlanges alternatively with• Through holes:

The valve is centered as a wafer-style butterfly valve by means of the pipe boltsin the holes. Alternatively, it can be installed as a dead-end valve with a nutinserted between the valveflanges.

• Tapped holes:The butterfly valve is installed as a dead-end valve or flange-mounted valve. The pipe side to be dismantled can be removed without any axial displacement, the butterfly valve acts as a dead-end valve.

• Tapped bores:The valve is installed as a dead-end or flange-mounted butterfly valve. The pipe side to be dismantled can be removed without any axialdisplacement.

• Glass connection:On the glass side, tapped holes or through holes with collar bushing.
