Content Note

This series consists of miscellaneous records of the Sussex Brigade of the New Jersey Militia (i.e., the "SussexMilitia") from the period 1768-1840. The documents were County Clerk's and County Collector's filings and include thefollowing: receipts of fines levied for non-performance of military duty, reports of delinquents not attending training,certificates of election of officers, pay vouchers for submission of militia rolls, and paymasters' performancebonds/oaths of office.

The documents are arranged in chronological order. All places referred to in the item descriptions below are in NewJersey unless otherwise indicated.
