PRESIDENT’S REPORTwith Keith Cuttle

Hello and welcome to February in NCCA Land.

Hope You all had a great and happy and safe Christmas/New Year celebratory time.

December of course saw our annual Christmas Barbie. Yaaay much fun and cheer was had by all. Santa arrived on a fire truck (apparently now some childrens’ perception of Santa’s mode of transport have been corrupted), the Jumping castle was enjoyed as well as all the culinary goodies and good cheer with a good friendly crowd. Many thanks to Jan and Vicki and Dion and the Diamond Creek CFA and of course Ken and Nong for making a great event.

Next on the list of club do’s is the Presentation Night. It will have happened by the time you read this. I am sure it will have been a ripper success, with guest speaker Mark Pedder and a record par-ticipation. So I hope you didn’t miss out on a great night.

Coming up too is the Rally Gala on 15th in Victorian rally history. VCRS Champion Club, Outright Champions, 2WD Champions, Novice Champions and a host of other awards well deserved by NCCA club members. It is always a great night.

Then on 1st and indeed the first event on the Victorian Rally Cal-

It will be a great event so long as the fire gods and weather gods keep up their end of the deal. We are also looking for officials of course. We are looking forward to an absolute ripper 2014 in NCCA Land with a number of great events planned. Stay tuned for de-tails. We are also always listening for your comments and ideas. Let us know your thoughts.

Welcome to this month’s edition of the Nissan Link. I’ll keep it brief this month - but I have a couple of quick points to cover.

By now Santa should have well and truly left you his presents of new tyres and tools... I must’ve been naughty last year because I didn’t get either. However, I did manage to get a new helmet and intercom setup for the Evo, so it wasn’t all that bad!

Firstly we have a few advertisers that haven’t paid their invoices yet. If you are one of the advertisers shown in this month’s mag-azine that hasn’t paid - unfortunately these ads will be your last. For the couple that have paid up, thank you.

We always welcome new ads too - it doesn’t even have to be mo-torsport or auto specific, it’s entirely up to you. We have a page on the website for more information: http://www.nissancarclub.org.au/Content/?c=7

Without sounding too much like a broken record - I’d really like some contributions for the magazine from some of our many members. With so many people participating in motorsport in some fashion, surely we can get a report from a competitor with a story to tell? Plus... you’ll get a free dinner at the next MGM!!! What more incentive could you possibly want?

Cheers,

Aidan

AUTOCROSS REPORTwith Jamie Allan

Hi All,

Welcome to the first edition of the Nissan Link for 2014. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Christmas and that everyone is eager to get into another year of racing!

The First round of the VCAS series is going to be up at Deniliquin on the 8th of February. It is one of the favourites of the series, it is a fast flowing track and with very little to hit you can you re-ally give it a red hot go! I know it’s a long way but it is definitely worth it. The Supp Regs are available on http://www.vicclubautocrossseries.com/ for those who are in-terested in coming up.

Cheers

Jamie Allan

My main hope is that my SSS may be ready, but still not holding my breath.

Working Balance as at 31/01/2014 $30174.47

A very good balance and I haven’t (as yet!) booked my flight to the Bahamas.

Would like to attach some Schedules, first one is Schedule H – Fire Extinguishers. These are included later in the magazine.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORTwith Jan Woods

Hi Everyone,First of all, I want to thank everyone for coming to the Presen-tation Night. Thank you Vicki & Kim for all of the help. It was a great night with 73 people attending. Congrats to our club champions that should be listed in the magazine. The golf club has undergone extensive alterations and looks great. It always was nice and is now even better.

Mark Pedder was an excellent and interesting speaker who talked about his early days of rallying with Scott as well as with the Honda and now this year in the Asia Pacific series.

Rob Parry is improving slowly after his big accident in the Al-pine. He hopes to leave hospital this week. It has been a long time since December 1st. I think it would be a good time to do some research into the CAMS Insurance scheme. It would be good to know just what you are covered for, and what not. You pay a lot of money in entry fees for the insurance every time you compete and really should know the details of the cover.

This year I will organize more ghost tours with the city one (lots of walking), Walhalla and Geelong Jail as well.

The club equipment is once again all in the one place after the clubs purchase of a 20ft shipping container. We just need to collect the bits and pieces that are spread around club mem-bers houses to complete the exercise! If you have anything that belongs to the club, please let us know and we would be happy to have it back with the rest of the gear.

The club Christmas Barbecue was great. Santa arrived in the Diamond Creek fire engine. Thank you Dion for organizing it. The kids loved it especially working the hose and watering the tree. A precedent has now been set for future barbecues!

SECRETARY’S REPORTwith Vicki CurryHi Everyone,Well here we are at the start of another year. I am so sure each year is going by faster than the last.

I am writing this article prior to the Presentation Night Dinner. I am sure we all had a great time and congratulations to all the winners.

It is good to hear that Rob Parry is recovering from his injuries sustained late last year, although not as quickly as he (and his family and friends) would like. Keep getting stronger Rob.

With the New Year comes a list of new events. As I have al-ready said, Presentation Night is our first event on the 1st Feb. The following one is the Rally Gala being held on the 15th Feb. I will be attending this event along with Ian and many other members of the Club. Our President, Keith, will be on hand to collect the VCRS Trophy on behalf of the Club. Yes, that’s right, we have won it again. This is great news. We win this trophy because of all the hard work our members put into competing in the VCRS Series. Well done to you all.

On the competitive calendar, our first event is being held on the 1st March and capably run by our Pres, Keith and team. Please give him a call if you can assist in anyway.

Our first Club meeting is on the 14th Feb, ahhh yes, Valentine’s Day. What a better way to celebrate the day than by coming along to the Manningham for a lovely dinner for the evening. Followed by a quick meeting to bring you all up to date with what’s going on with the Club. And, maybe a raffle with lovely chocolates and flowering plants as prizes. What a great night it sounds like fun. I will be there.

Well until then,

Vicki

Happy new year everyone, I hope you all had an excellent time off over Christmas! I have done plenty of work to the rally car and am ready for another exciting year!

Being the start of the year there is no events yet so no results,0 but I did promise a little report from The Alpine. Jeff David in his Porsche 911 took the honours winning with co-driver Grant Geelan by two minutes from Alister McRae and McShae in the Escort. Wayne Hoy and Lisa Dunkerton finished off the podium with third in their 260z.

It wasn’t all plain sailing though, the dry dusty roads threw up interesting results and few crews had some issues on the last day, chief among them were overnight leaders Alan Friend & Michelle Canning who had suspension failure forcing him out, an unfortunate end to a top effort Allan, hard luck mate. Mike Conway also saw some bad luck after he too was leading when a throttle cable broke causing him to miss a stage.

The sad story though, was that of Rob Parry and Robin Smal-ley who had a huge accident which forced Rob into hospital for many weeks! On behalf of everyone we hope you recover quickly and see you out there driving the wheels off another car soon.

The NCCA crews who did finish were Leigh Garrioch and Sarah Schulz 12th outright in a Hyundai Excel, which I think is impres-sive! Well not the car obviously but the drive was good. David Lawerance and Darren Davidson 33rd (in a much better car Leigh!) a Datsun 1600. Ian Curry and Sarah Curry got 38th in another frankly excellent 1600 (getting the idea Leigh?). There’s always next time. Might I just say out of 99 competitors 49 fin-ished every stage, goes to show how tough it was. Congrats to all the finishes.

To all those wanted to continue our winning tradition the first round of the VCRS is on the 1st of March, a completely new event the - Neerim Classic being run by our own president Mr Keith Cuttle. It should be a thrill out there, so get your entry in or put your hand out to help out. I hope to see you all out there.

Look forward to seeing everyone very soon.

Cary
