AUCTION GUIDELINES FOR THE WALTER GERLACH STOCK SHOW

In order to speed up the auction sale for the WGLS, the following initiatives have been incorporated into the auction guidelines:

1. Only Grand and Reserve Grand animals will enter the ring. After all Grand and Reserve Grands have been sold, only the students will enter the sale ring.

Due to safety and liability concerns, unruly animals will not be allowed in the auction ring for the “Auction of Champions”.

2. Only bids for donations of $500.00 or above will be named on champion boards and those buyers requested to appear in sale ring for photo.

3. We would like the buyers to pre-register by mail. Please make sure that we have all billing information correct. Those that pre-register will have their sales packet available when they arrive and save them time in line.

4. Only bids or donations of $100.00 or above will be announced during the auction. Bid sheets turned in after an animal has sold will not be accepted. After the sale, students will receive a buyer listing of buyers that purchased their animal. The resale (floor) price of all animals, with the exception of steers, will automatically be credited to the scholarship fund from split sheets that have 10 (ten) or more buyers. A minimum bid of $50.00 is required on bid sheets; smaller amounts can be donated as add-ons but not smaller than $25.00.

5. This will be a terminal sale in that all livestock must go to slaughter or resale to slaughter. Floor buyers will not sell any livestock on Gerlach property.

6. IF A BUYER FAILS TO PAY HIS BILL THE STUDENT WHO’S ANMIAL HE PURCHASED WILL NOT RECEIVE THAT MONEY ON HIS CHECK.

7. In keeping with the pace set by other show auctions (i.e. S.A.L.E.) the minimum total purchase amount for a buyer shall be $500.00 by either bids or add-ons. If a buyer purchases less than $500.00, the buyer will be billed the balance. This only applies to buyers that enter the show ring. Those buyers that choose to donate to the auction committee in lieu of attending the auction, will not be billed the $500.00 minimum.
