Nippon Express Travel can trace its business to the first resemblance of modern-day travel services practiced in

the latter part of the Edo Period in the early 1800s, in which they used to issue accommodations and meal tokens to be

honored by inns located along the principal highways, mainly traveled on foot. In 1937, the forerunner of Nippon

Express went through reorganization and the firm foundations were laid for Nippon Express of today. The company has

been active in the current travel business (inbound & outbound) since 1955.

CANCELLATIONS Cancellation notice shall be received by Nippon Express Travel in writing.

Shikoku Pilgrimage: Japan's 88 Temple Adventure

The “Ohenro” Pilgrimage or Shikoku Junrei is a multi-site pilgrimage of 88 temples associated

with the Buddhist monk Kukai (Kobo Daishi) on the island of Shikoku, Japan. A popular and

distinctive feature of the island's cultural landscape, and with a long history, large numbers of

pilgrims (known as henro) still undertake the journey for a variety of ascetic and pious.

A Buddhist Monk, exclusively arranged by Nippon Express Travel will

accompany you and gives you lectures about Buddhism and cultures

of “Ohenro”.

After Morning lecture in Tokushima city or Naruto city, visit Temple No.1 Ryozan-ji, Temple No.2 Gokuraku-ji, Temple No.3 Konsen-ji, and No.6 Anraku-ji by private car and on foot with a Buddhist monk and an English speaking guide. Enjoy Japanese vegetarian supper, cooked by monks at Anraku-ji.
