1. Define Roles and Responsibilities
Both the employer and employee need to know their role in the Remote Work agreement.
What are the respective responsibilities? These roles should be spelled out in bullet
point form in the document, be agreed to, and be clear.
2. Outline a Specific Work Schedule
Include days, times, and methods of contact. Also outline out of office time and the
applicable procedures.Notify applicable stakeholders when
deviating from the standard schedule.
3. Contact and Emergency Contact Information
Include work, home and mobile telephone, work email and personal email contact information,
Explain when each is to be used.Emergency contact name, relationship, and
contact information.
4. What Work Will Be Completed Remotely
Describe the employees role, the type of work, who will assign the work and how the work will be measured.
Are some tasks better suited to remote work or to the office.
If so, how will they be addressed.
5. Equipment and Expenses
What is required?What is provided by each party and who is
responsible for purchase, setup, maintenance and repair?
6. Termination of Agreement
Why, how, and when can the agreement be terminated or renegotiated.
7. Legal and Safety Issues
Verify compliance with local zoning regulations and applicable licensing requirements.
