Tourist Attractions 1

1. One tourist attraction is the Pula Arena. The arena is the 6th largest surviving Roman arena. This Roman arena is one of the best preserved Roman monuments in all of Croatia. It was built in the 1st Century AD. It can seat 26,000 people. In the 15th Century AD, some of the stones were taken to build houses. This luckily stopped before the whole structure was destroyed.

2. Another tourist attraction is Rovinj. It is one of the most visually attractive towns in the Mediterranean. Rovinj is an active fishing port, and visitors can take boats to offshore islands. A part of Rovinj has been described as an outstanding scenic wonder.

3. Hvar is another tourist attraction. This is one of the most popular places. There are olive trees, fruit orchards, and lavender fields, it makes up most of the agricultural landscape. Hvar is a popular port for yachts especially in the summer.

Traditional Food

Dried-Cured Ham (also known as prosciutto) is something Croatia is famous for. It is essential to have in every kind of celebration. It is also in most restaurant menus.

Black Risotto comes from Dalmatia. The main ingredients are cuttlefish and squid. The color is from the squids ink and that also gave it it’s name.

Lamb on the spit is the most popular way of preparing lamb in Croatia. The whole lamb is roasted slowly above hot coals.

Croatia’s National Soccer Team

Croatia’s national soccer team was founded in 1912. The highest FIFA ranking they had was 3rd in January, 1999. The lowest FIFA ranking they ever had was 125 that was in March, 1994. The team has a nickname and that name is The Blazers. One of Croatia’s home stadiums is Stadium Maksimir. The stadium is located in Zagreb, Croatia. It got it’s name because it’s in the neighborhood of Maksimir. It fits 38,923 people. It opened on May 5th, 1912.

How Croatia Got It’s Name

Croatia got it’s name many years ago. It was in the Medieval Latin times where Croatia got it’s name. There are still some castles in Croatia from the Medieval times. The castles that are still standing today are popular tourist attractions.

Croatian Airlines

The Croatian Airlines was founded on August 20, 1989. Croatian Airlines flies to 27 different destinations. The headquarters is in Zagreb, Croatia. The focus cities for the airline are Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Frankfurt, Munich, and of course Zagreb. Croatian Airlines is also a member of Star Alliance.

Croatia’s Currency

The Croatian currency has been Kuna since 1994. The currency is going to change around 2015. This is because Croatia has just joined the euro union on July 1st 2013. The currency will then change to euros.

Self Reflection

It was really interesting doing my project on Croatia. I found it interesting because I learned a lot of new things. A lot of things I wasn’t even expecting to learn. I feel I did very good on the project. I spent a lot of time and effort. My opinion on Croatia has changed since I first went to Croatia. It is a very interesting country. There is a lot to learn about Croatia.

I have been to Croatia 7 times. It is an important part of my background.
