VILJANDI OLD WATER TOWERJOHAN LAIDONERI PLATS 5, VILJANDI. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 18–23.

The permanent exhibition tells the story of how the old water tower was built and later renovated into an observation tower. The tower has a magnificent view of the urban patterns of Viljandi. The tower takes in 10 people at a time.

HOME MUSEUM OF THE KAPP FAMILYTALLINNA 30, SUURE-JAANI, PÕHJA-SAKALA PARISH. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 18–23.

The museum features performances by young musicians from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and local musical collectives, and workshops for pattern-makers. We are also serving snacks and drinks.

VILJANDI MUSEUMJOHAN LAIDONERI PLATS 10, VILJANDI. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 18–23.

Viljandi Museum features a permanent exhibition full of patterns of time. Visitors can play an exciting hidden object game (ask for a work sheet from the ticket office). Additional information about the exhibits is provided by museum curators. Children can draw and colour different patterns and make them into badges or refrigerator magnets. The fee for making a badge is 1€.

The first floor hall of the exhibition building is displaying the photo exhibition “Mitmepalgeline meri” (“Multifaceted Sea”) by Birgit Vaarandi and the second floor hall is displaying photo exhibition “Kevadseened” (“Spring Mushrooms”) by Vello Liiv.

The museum shop is selling pattern animals designed by Anu Raud.

MART SAAR HOUSE MUSEUMHÜPASSAARE FARM, KARJASOO VILLAGE, SUURE-JAANI PARISH. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 18–23.

Hüpassaare was the paternal home of composer Mart Saar (1882-1963). Much of Mart Saar’s work was born here, in the midst of woods and bogs. The museum introduces the life and work of one of the most well-known Estonian choir music authors. Visitors get acquainted with the natural setting that inspired the composer by walking the Soomaa National Park Hüpassaare study trail (4,4 km).

The Museum Night programme features different pattern games inspired by Paul Kondas’ work and temporary exhibitions. Each room of the centre includes a game that is somehow related to creating or interpreting patterns.

MÕISAKÜLA MUSEUMJ. SIHVERI 4, MÕISAKÜLA. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 9–23.

Visitors will get to learn about the history of Mõisaküla in the period of 1895-2019. The museum is displaying the photo exhibition “Šveits eestlase pilgu läbi...” (“Switzerland Through Estonian Lens...”) by Heidi Toomingas and “Rahvusmustrid läbi kirjatud käsitööde” (“National Patterns in Patterned Handicraft”).

VILJANDI AIRCRAFT FACTORYHARIDUSE 12A, VILJANDI. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 21–00.

The programme will kick off with a bang at 21.00 and doors to the mystical basement of the Viljandi Aircraft Factory will open for everyone. Do not expect to see oily old broken machines – the basement is full of surprises that have been set up throughout the day by young artists. A tour in the basement passages is a symbiosis of the factory’s exciting history and fascinating contemporary art. The area

around the factory is also bustling with activity, and serving food and drinks.

R. PAUL FIRNHABER HOME GALLERY & MUSEUM IMAGITARTU 80B, VILJANDI. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 18–21.

Visitors are greeted by the kindly English-speaking landlord, who will introduce his collections and the exhibition in the Imagi gallery on the second floor of the building, featuring artworks and ritual items of faraway peoples.

SUURE-KÕPU MANORKÕPU, VILJANDIMAA. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 18–23.

Photo exhibition “Kõpu mustrid” (“Patterns of Kõpu”) is open for visitors and features folk costumes, glove patterns, wooden beer mugs and jewellery. Visitors can play a hidden object game.

Music played by local music lovers at 22.00.

ABJA MUSEUMEESTI POSTI TÄNAV 3, ABJA-PALUOJA. OPENING HOURS FOR THE MUSEUM NIGHT: 12–24.

Visitors can learn about the postal service in Abja through the ages and about 90 years of banking history.
