SECRETARIAT REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST, 2016 HIGHLIGHTS
The Secretariat activities for the month of August, 2016 are highlighted as follows:
WEEK 1
Resolution of the National Executive Council
(NEC) Meeting of the National Association of
Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD) was
received at the NMA National Secretariat,
Abuja.
Letter of Appreciation was sent to His
Excellency, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo Vice President
of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the
Honourable Minister of Health Prof. Isaac F.
Adewole and other Ministers Present, Chief
Executive Officers of Federal Parastatal,
Agencies, Senators and House of
Representative members and CMDs/MDs for
attending the Inauguration Dinners of the
NMA President and her executives.
A letter was sent to the Honourable Minister
of Health on NMA Representatives on the
Technical Sub-Committee on joint Health
Sector Resolution of the 3rd of August, 2016.
The Secretary General Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu
led the NMA delegation to a Technical Sub –
Committee Meeting on 10th August, 2016 at
the Honourable Minister of Health Conference
Room, 6th Floor, Federal Ministry of Health,
Abuja.
WEEK 2
Chairman NMA FCT Dr. Chiedozie J. Achonwa
represented the NMA President at the 2016
forum of the Nigeria Springboard for Health
and Social Development Communication,
organized by the Center for Communication

Dr. Adamu Alhassan 2nd Vice President,
Nigerian Medical Association represented the
President as a special guest of honour at the
National MDCAN NEC Meeting and Scientific
Conference on Saturday 20th August, 2016 at
UATH post Basic intensive Care Nursing School,
Auditorium Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Nigeria was received at the National
Secretariat, Abuja.
Dr. Abimiku, represented the NMA President
at the Cancer Awareness Campaign organized
by Initiative for Education and Development
(IDEE) held on 27th August, 2015 at the LEA
Primary School Hall, Chibiri Community, Kuje,
Abuja.

WEEK 4
Dr. Shehu Abdulrahman, Chairman NMA
Kaduna State represented the NMA President
to an Advocacy/Sensitization Workshop on use
of Misoprosol for Prevention of Post-partum
Hemorrhage held in NAERLS Suites and
Conference Centre ABU, Zaria, Kaduna State.
Monday 22nd August, 2016 the NMA President
Prof. Mike O. Ogirima flagged off the Medical
Mission/outreach at Iwollo in Ezeagu Local
Government of Enugu State as part of the
events of the August 2016 National Executive
Council (NEC) Meeting of the Nigerian Medical
Association.
Tuesday 23rd August, 2016 the NMA President
Prof. Mike O. Ogirima led a delegation to a
formal courtesy call to the palace of Igwe of
Nike and the Chief Medical Director and the
management of the University of Nigeria
Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Enugu.
Wednesday 24th August, 2016 was the arrival
of the NEC Members all over the state and a
welcome Cocktail was held at the National
Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu.
Thursday 25th August, 2016 was the opening
ceremony of the National Executive Council
meeting Coal City 2016.
The National Executive Council meeting of the
Nigerian Medical Association took place on
Friday 26th and Saturday 27th August, 2016 at
Villa Toscana Hotel, Enugu State.
Press conference to mark the end of the Enugu
NEC meeting took place on Sunday 28th
August, 2016 and departure of NEC members.

December National Executive Council Meeting of the
NMA will take place in Lokoja, Kogi State.
NMA Games will be taking place in February at Jalingo,
Taraba State
April 2017 Annual General Conference and Delegates
meeting of the NMA will take place at Calabar, Cross
Rivers State.
August 2017 National Executive Council meeting of
NMA will take place in Kaduna State.
Newly elected state executives are to send in the full names, office Address, State Secretariat Address, Email Address of the Chairman and Secretary to the [email protected] and copy [email protected], [email protected]
States are to send the Names, Address, Email Address,
Phone numbers of the CMDs/MDs of Health
Institutions in their State to the address above.
