MODEL MAKING

OVERVIEW

NHU offers a range of short courses for all skills levels and interests. This course is a level 1

introduction to Model making, Sketching and Revit Architecture, a powerful building modeler used

extensively for architectural design and documentation in 2D and 3D. The course is delivered

through theory as well as demonstrations and practical work. Participants gain hands-on

experience using the various modelling and documentation commands within Revit.

COURSE CONTENT

• Building model set up, in board and wood, levels and grids • Sketching and drawing

• Basic building tools

• Basic editing tools

• Navigation tools

• Creating views, sections and elevations

• Setting up, managing and tracking information on documents

• Automatic scheduling

IDEAL FOR

Designed for those who want to develop their skills in 3D modelling, computer-aided design and

documentation using Revit.

Students seeking admission

OUTCOME

Upon completion participants will have developed a good understanding of the fundamental

functions and applications of Revit for architectural and building professions.

Be able to draw and sketch portrait and landscape and architecture Drawing

SUITED TO

Designed for those who want to develop their skills in 3D modelling, computer-aided design and

documentation using Revit.

Young students interested in Art and drawing

PREREQUISITES

No previous experience in Revit is required however a practical understanding of PC operation

and the Windows environment is essential.

Comprehensive course notes.

Course notes are provided but a pen is useful. Students should also bring a flash drive (4GB +)

for transferring and storing files.

INTERIOR DESIGN

DESCRIPTION

This is an ideal short course if you would like to build confidence and skills in drawing in terms of

Interior Design. Over the weeks you will also learn tips, tricks and shortcuts from the

professionals in the creation of understandable drawings. This could mean new products,

improvements, alterations or inventions; spaces, structures or mechanisms. You may have an

interest related to Industrial, product or furniture design. It may be in architecture, automotive or

engineering; or illustration or interior design. Almost anyone can benefit from improved their

skills in imparting ideas in an understandable format.

• Sketching in perspective without rulers and templates

• Building complex forms from simple ones

Students will experience a number of drawing techniques and gain confidence to continue

outside of class a profession in Interior Design. Students will generate a portfolio of drawings

from interior Design point of view.

SUITED TO

This course is for anyone wishing to improve their design drawing skills. It is ideally suited to

people with an interest in putting 3D ideas down on paper. This course can be for mature age

students, those working in design related industries, or anyone with an interests or hobby where

drawing is useful.

PREREQUISITES

An interest in drawing.

COURSE PRESENTER

Javaria Shaikh, MASOOD AKHTAR & MANSOOR RAJA both of them are artists and full time

teachers at NHU. They have extensive experience and expertise in drawing, both manually and

in cad, for product design.

Black Pentel sign pen

Plastic ruler (minimum 40cms long)

Soft white eraser
