Collaboration is key in the fight against COVID-19. In April 2020 the NHS, Department of Health & Social Care, Ministry of Defence, ProCure22 and other partners, came together to deliver the new NHS Nightingale Hospitals.

The hospitals provided an incredible increase in critical care capacity across England to ensure the NHS had the beds to care for COVID-19 patients. Central to this effort were the P22 Principal Supply Chain Partner contractor organisations coming together under the DHSC ProCure22 Framework to deliver four new hospitals in little more than a fortnight. This increased critical care bed capacity by 50% at a crucial time in the NHS’s response to COVID-19. The fast facts shared here show what was involved in this remarkable achievement, from the three-day period between the first phone call to site work starting, to delivering four new hospitals handed over to local NHS Trusts within a 17-day period.
