    The Palolo Valley Church of Christ Honolulu Hawaii

    Charles C. Luttrell and Dennis Oertel missionary ministers

    have had a unique opportunity to

    in recent weeks to aid

    in

    world wide evangelism.

    They

    have sponsored Sokun

    Nhem

    his

    yjxiQ

    Mala

    sind infant son Samuel

    as

    Cambodian

    immigrants.

    Sokun

    and

    his

    wffe f led

    the

    Communists in Cambodia

    after seeing their family

    members

    killed and

    suffering

    many

    other

    hardships.

    Sokun has

    been

    a Christ ian

    for

    seven

    years

    and while s t i l l in his

    own country

    he went to a Bible Inst i

    tute and had his own congregation where he preached winning

    many to the Lord.

    He

    arrived in

    the

    Khao y dang refugee

    camp

    on the Thailand

    border

    on November 21 1979 He immediately

    began to teach the word and soon had a host of believers.

    In May and June, 1980, Vietnamese Communist forces lauirched a

    massive attackacrossthe

    border

    intoThailand. Therefugee/amps In

    Thailand were one of their primary targets. Hundreds of pepple were

    killed or

    Injured.

    However,

    the

    Thai Army

    and

    Air Force

    drove back the^ommunlst

    Invaders with aid

    from the

    United States. The Chinese C^munlsts on

    th e nor th of Vietnam also put pressure against the Rdsslan-backed

    Vietnamese

    Communists.

    Abalance

    of

    power brou^t respite to the

    hundreds

    of

    thousands

    of

    Cambodian

    refugee survivOTs in th e Khao-I-

    Dang and

    other

    camps in Thailand. However, rugee aid groups

    became

    very restricted

    Thailand,

    hours they

    were thousands of miles away in America.
