BACKGROUND
Catheter Swan Ganz-gold standard measured CO, haemodynamic index Complications and not applied to children
Picco: monitoring hemodynamic state continuostly Invasive procedure, risk of infection. Need of a non invasive and safe procedure applied for
all patientsUSCOM: measures blood flow across the aortic or pulmonary
valves using continuous wave Doppler ultrasound. Invase, safe Applicable to children Evaluate left heart and right heart function.

STUDY OBJECTIVES
Comparing the accuracy of cardiac index measured by USCOM (ultrasound cardiac output monitor) to PICCO (Pulse contour cardiac output) in patients with septic shock.

STUDY METHOD
A clinical trial, prospectively descriptive and analytical study
15 patients with septic shock over 80 turns of measurement comparing USCOM to PICCO at the same time.
Place: ICU, VietDuc hospital Exlusion: Patients with cardiac diseases, thoracic
trauma, coagulation disorder, using anticoagulation agents, catheter related ifection, missed data.

STUDY METHOD
Data colected: using USCOM with stadard criteria
the correlation of cardiac index measured by two methods Picco and USCOM based on the correlation coefficient; diaphragms and linear
regression equation y=ax+b. Bland-Altman Plot was used to estimate the limit of
agreement between two methods when < 20% of the values was out of 2 SD interval.

RESULTS
Features of patients Age: 22-85 Inotropic agent supported
The correlation coefficient
The cardiac indexes measured by USCOM and PICCO had a strong positive linear correlation (r=0.8, p<0.001) Sophia Horster et al: r=0.89

RESULT
Linear regression equation was y=0,67*x+1.63. According to Bland Altman Plot, there was only
5% out of ±2SD interval (compared to the limit less than 20%).

CONCLUSION
The cardiac index measured by USCOM method had a high accuracy and could replace the invasive method to evaluate the hemodynamic state in clinic.
