Month in Review
In lieu of our regular monthly meetings, neXt decided to spend July celebrating its members with a Membership Appreciation Cookout. It was great to see familiar faces and new ones at the cookout! Despite the rain, we had about 30 members partake in the event, including their families and significant others. A big thank you to Justine and her family for opening their doors and hosting the event! In July, seven of our members participated in the Walk With Me event in sup-port of Easter Seals. Every walker was teamed with an “Honorary Ambassa-dor”, a local child with a disability who currently benefits or has benefitted from Easter Seals services. NeXt had the privilege of walking a mile around the CornBelters stadium with “princess” Emily. Each of the team members raised at least $20 to go towards Easter Seals, way to go!

neXt MeetingPlease join the neXt Professionals for their monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 27 from 5:30 – 6:30pm at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Conference Cen-ter. Our speaker, Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner, will provide our members with important updates from the City of Bloomington and will share with us the impact that we as young professionals have on the city in which we reside.
MeMbeR spotlight: Meet Kate sies!
Kate Sies is the Foundation Development Associate at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. Kate’s responsi-bilities include supporting the Foundation and the medical center’s Auxiliary group in raising funds for the hospital. Originally from Freeport, IL, Kate is a two-time graduate of Illinois State University where she earned both her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations and her Master of Science degree in Communication. Kate has been a member of Next Professionals since 2012 and is getting ready to serve on the board of the Bloomington Kiwanis Club beginning this October. In her free time, she enjoys
reading, exercising and perusing social media sites.
Fun Facts: Kate will be getting married in October 2013, has a fraternal twin sister and was born on New Year’s Day!

QUALItY oF LIFe...
local news & bUsiness: tobin’s new Fleet If you live in Bloomington-Normal and enjoy pizza, you’re probably familiar with the “classic” Tobin’s Pizza delivery vehicles. Tobin’s (1513 N. Main St., Bloomington) has been widely known to provide their employees with clunkers. However, owner Moe Davis has made a few changes to his delivery fleet in the past 6 months, all in the name of saving money.
Moe is now stocked with 12 all-electric Mitsubishi i-MiEV vehicles, cutting his monthly gas bill by nearly two-thirds. State and Federal incentives paired with the lowering of vehicle maintenance and fuel expense made the decision easy. Although EVs may not be the solution to the financial problems for all small businesses, it will be interesting to see if more owners will make the change from gas to electric in the future.
