Having been closed for two years to enable a refurbishment and capital build project to progress we are now looking ahead to our grand reopening, at which point we will become a heritage Grade II* listed theatre with a 21st century stage house, facilities and second performance space. We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead the technical completion of our exciting capital project and who will work with the Administrative Director to build and manage the technical team to ensure NTR is fully operational and runs as a first class sustainable business.

Job Title: Technical Manager

Rate of Pay: £30,000 p.a.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Flexible due to the nature of the New Theatre Royal's work)
Effective date of job description: April 2015
Purpose of Job:
To manage the day-to-day operations of NTR ensuring effective systems are put in place so that all regulatory requirements are met and that the building is serviced and maintained within the designated operations budget. To ensure the technical smooth running of NTR’s performances, workshops and events and technically manage the completion of the capital development project. To be responsible for ensuring that all technical requirements are met to achieve the Business Development plan 2015-18 and NTR to operate as an effective sustainable business.
Key Responsibilities:Production
To provide technical support for performances and events both in the theatre and outside co-ordinating additional workforce and equipment as required
To develop and deliver a robust technical/offstage learning and participation programme in collaboration with the Artistic Director, Creative Producer and Learning and Participation Manager
To maintain, buy or hire equipment for the artistic programme according the scheduling, budget and technical needs of NTR
To be responsible for and manage the designated technical budget and report to the Finance Manager on a monthly basis
Teamwork: To line manage the cleaning and technical team and volunteers
To schedule and supervise all technical staff making best use of their time and keeping an accurate record of hours worked
To promote good working practices and maintaining high production values at all times within the Department
To ensure that NTR staff are up to date with all relevant building related policies and procedures, that all maintenance and service contracts are in place and inform the Administrative Director of any changes legally or operationally that may be required
To ensure that appropriate staffing cover is arranged for any holiday periods in advance
Building
To develop with the Adminstrative Director and Finance Manager a robust management agreement with UoP for the shared services and spaces with particular, though not exclusive, reference to power, cleaning, IT and shared uses of equipment
To be responsible for the maintenance of the building and equipment and undertake basic maintenance duties
To report to the Administrative Director plans for any maintenance work that needs to be undertaken and liaise and supervise outside contractors to ensure effectively carried out.
To liaise with and supervise outside contractors and lead an NTR technical team as necessary to ensure the technical completion of the capital project
Health & Safety
To co-ordinate and attend Health and Safety sub-committee meetings and attend The Joint Project Board as required
To undertake basic maintenance duties as required to ensure the work place adheres to health and safety requirements and all staff are informed
To be familiar with, and comply with current Health & Safety regulations relevant to the industry and to keep abreast of any changes
To administrate the Health & Safety policy as it relates to the Technical Department
To ensure that all NTR staff and volunteers are up to date with all relevant Health & Safety policies and procedures, that risk assessments are complete and working practices adhere to the relevant regulations
General
To understand and adhere to all NTR policies and regulations, be a principal ,key holder and ensure that the security of the building is maintained
at all times.
To undertake other tasks as reasonably requested to ensure that NTR operates as an effective sustainable business.
