Assignment Feedback
Formative Feedback & Observations (Assessor To Actor)
Presentation:
Clearly very passionate about the subject matter.
Audience had a good understanding of the emotion you intended to provoke but did not necessarily feel personally moved.
Set up was very intense and dramatic.
Difficult to connect with you because you were talking to us from the dark.
Workshop idea was an interesting way of allowing the audience to make their own discoveries.
Instructions needed to clearer. The participants were hesitant because they were unsure of the command.
Use of space felt too familiar. Could you have taken your audience outside to put them in the right atmosphere?
Rehearsal Feedback:
Struggling to take command of the room. Dont be afraid to intervene when the rehearsal becomes laboured.
The director always needs to be one step ahead of the actor.
Focus on your positioning within the space. Your position in the room will either engage the actors or force them to disengage.
When asking for feedback you need to ask questions to provoke responses.
Never feedback what you liked always state what worked.
Your feedback should be definitive and never hesitant.
Never give a not using the term I think, always use I know.
Be clear with your responses and confident with your directions.
Never tell the actors that you dont know.
Always monitor when the group is losing focus and try to ascertain what it is that is causing the distraction.
The use of music should always aid the atmosphere and not simply provide a distraction.
If the music is too loud the actors cannot hear your commands. Equally you cannot hear that they are distracted and talking.
Personal Feedback:
Be ambitious with what you can achieve but dont be unrealistic. At times you are choosing to explore material and workshops that are well beyond the level of experience that the actors have. The actors should always be stretched but the objective of the workshop should never be out of their reach.
Never allow your frustration in the actors to hinder your work on the floor. On occasion you have struggled to separate your annoyance with the lack of focus from the task at hand and the progress of the material has consequently suffered.

Action Plan (02/12/2014 Discussed 03/12/2014) (Actor To Assessor)
Explore work that I am interested in (stage combat).
Lead company workshops to gain confidence in what I want to do and trust that I know what I am doing.
Summative Feedback Amber, throughout the process you have worked extremely hard to build and sustain a professional working relationship with the actors and this consequently allowed you to create a dynamic piece of theatre that contained moments of great complexity. You displayed maturity and sensitivity to the atmosphere of the rehearsal space. You must ensure that you put your voice into the room more often to command the space. You have been an outstanding role model for the actors and have inspired others with your relentless professionalism during rehearsals. Your choices and decisions have been consistently brave and autonomous and you never failed to take risks with the work and the acting company. Your ability and willingness to compromise with your ideas resulted in you discovering new, creative, bold and dynamic ideas that incorporated vast ranges of style and technique. Well Done!
Feedback (Actor To Assessor) Strengths:
Discovered my niche and the style that I am interested in.
Allowing the actors to explore.
Good collaboration with Alex and Sam. Weaknesses:
Initially had a lack of self-confidence.
Having a consistent voice within the space.
Lack of input with the script.
