NEWS LETTER TERM 5 2016 GREENACRE SPORTS PARTNERSHIP PRIMARY FOOTBALL LEAGUE B ecks Barr from the Greenacre Academy Trust has once again hosted a very successful Primary Football League for all the primary schools within the Greenacre Sports Partnership. 14 schools entered the football league this year and the standard of football being played was absolutely fantastic. Due to the number of schools entering the league this year, the teams were split into two groups, depending on their location in Medway. All schools played each other within their group and then had play off matches against the opposing group to enable final positions to be awarded. On Thursday 19th May, Greenacre Sports Partnership hosted the Primary Football League Finals and 3rd / 4th playoff at Greenacre Academy. The afternoon saw Swingate compete against Maundene in the 3rd / 4th play-off and Delce Academy compete against Balfour Juniors in the final. After two very intense matches, the overall winners of the league were Delce Academy! Greenacre Sports Partnership would like to take this opportunity to thank all the primary staff who worked hard to ensure the Primary Football League ran so smoothly and therefore, making it a huge success. Running a football team is not easy and without the support and dedication from the staff, pupils would not have had the chance to compete in this high standard of football which the schools from the Greenacre Sports Partnership have demonstrated. Football League for all the primary schools within the Greenacre Sports Partnership. 14 schools entered the football league this year and the standard of football being played was absolutely fantastic.

Due to the number of schools entering the league this year, the teams were split into two groups, depending on their location in Medway. All schools played each other within their group and then had play off matches against the opposing group to enable final positions to be awarded.

KWIK CRICKETThe Mini Youth Games Kwik Cricket competition was held on Thursday 26th May at High Halstow. 53 schools took part in total and it was the largest MYG event held up to date. 22 Greenacre Sports Partnership Schools participated in the Mini Youth Games Kwik Cricket Competition. This is an increase of two schools compared with last academic year.

PRIMARY RACKET SKILLS FESTIVALThe Howard School Sports Partnership hosted the Racket Skills Festival which was held on Thursday 21st April 2016 at Medway Park. The competition saw 216 pupils from years 3&4 participate from 18 different primary schools across Medway.

Participants competed in a series of activities including Table Tennis, Squash, Tennis & Badminton.

Well done to the following GSP Schools for participating:

PRIMARY QUICKSTICKS HOCKEY On Thursday the 28th April, the Howard Sports Partnership hosted the Quicksticks Hockey Competition held at Anchorians Hockey Club. 15 schools participated throughout the day. A special commendation goes to those schools that the Greenacre Sports Partnership supports in preparing for these competitions:

A big well done goes to Horsted Juniors who won the competition! They will be representing Medway at the Kent finals in June. In addition, a big well done to Saxon way who won the fair play award!

LESSON SUPPORT: TERM 5 FEEDBACKDuring term 5, 25 teachers received the 1:1 Lesson Support, 100% of staff improved their confidence levels and 92% of staff rated the support as Excellent, with the remaining rating the service as Good. TEACHER OF THE TERMFor term 5, the following nominations have been made by the GSP team:

Tori Beal: Wayfield Primary SchoolTori weren’t confident with her delivery of Football at first but by the end of the term, Tori was delivering the lesson with ease and determination. Her differentiation within the lesson to suit all pupils’ needs was also fantastic! The pupils responded really well to her relaxed, enthusiastic and fun nature. Well done!

Rachel Walker: Holywell Primary SchoolRachel’s determination to follow the plan and adapt it to the suit the needs of her children was fantastic. She had a good grasp of what the support entailed and gave every part of her delivery 100% effort and drive.

PRIMARY GIRLS-ONLY FOOTBALL AND KWIK CRICKET On Thursday 5th May, Greenacre Sports Partnership and Howard Sports Partnership hosted the Girls only competition for Football and Kwik Cricket held at Playfootball.net and the Howard School.

PRIMARY KEY STEPS GYMNASTICS On Thursday 19th May, the Greenacre Sports Partnership hosted the Primary Key Steps Gymnastics Competition at Greenacre Academy. 7 schools took part in total competing within the different age categories.

SECONDARY SNAPSHOT

SECONDARY FOOTBALL LEAGUEChatham Grammar and The Howard School were both double league winners in this year’s Medway’s Secondary Schools Football League. Chatham Grammar claimed the title in the year 7 league going the whole season unbeaten. There was further success for the Chatham school as they were also victorious in the year 8 league winning the title by seven points from Greenacre Academy.

The Howard School year 9’s claimed their status as invincibles by also completing the season unbeaten winning all but one of their games and only conceding six goals to clinch consecutive titles. The year 11 division was a much closer affair with The Howard eventually winning on goal

difference to complete a double for the Rainham based school.

Rainham Mark year 10’s were in scintillating form this season and clinched the league title by a huge nine-point gap. The team also completed the season unbeaten and with an impressive goal difference, scoring twenty goals and only conceding five.

This season saw the Medway Schools League separated into Premier and Championship Divisions with promotion and relegation. Eleven secondary schools from across Medway took part in the season and over 600 students participated in this year’s competition. Well done to everyone who took part.

SSG CRICKET

108 Participants! 10 Schools!

On Thursday 12th May, Greenacre Sports Partnership and Howard Sports Partnership hosted the Secondary School Games Cricket competition. 10 Schools participated overall and the results were as follows:

The resource cards have a variety of different images and drills drawn out so that non-specialist PE teachers can set up an activity at ease and make sure they are delivering the lesson plan to its full effectiveness.

Kitemark application has now opened! Don’t forget to complete it before the deadline of Wednesday 28th September. If you would like GSP to help you when completing your Kitemark application, we will be hosting support sessions on Thursday 7th July.
