BOOK FAIR

It is that time of the year when our annual Book Fair is near-ly here. This year it is particularly EXCITING as money raised will go to the renovations of our school library. In the past, money raised has gone to the upgrade of the library’s circulation desk and the purchasing of readers for the school.

Our Book Fair – Reading Rainforest Go wild for books!

will be held on Friday, October 20

Sports Carnival Day near the Senior Block and

Monday, October 23 – Wednesday, October 25 In the Library

8.30 – 9.30am and 2.30 – 3.30pm

A Book Fair is like a mini-bookshop that contains the newest and most exciting books that can be purchased by parents, students, teachers’ friends and family. It offers affordable books at every reading level. It is, most of all, a fun way to encourage children to read and gives them the opportunity to choose their own books. It is also a good time to start your Christmas shopping.

Every sale at the Book Fair Reading Rainforest benefits West Leeming Primary School. So join the fun in making our fair a big success for our school.

HELP IS REQUIRED TO RUN THE FAIR SO IF YOU ARE ABLE TO GIVE SOME TIME PLEASE CONTACT CHRISTINE WILLIS ON 9266 6008.

SAFETY HOUSE On Friday, September 15, children from Kindy to Year 3 enjoyed the Safety House Show incursion at West Leeming Primary School. This entertaining and educational show is designed to promote the Safety House message and can help children become more aware of their personal safety and how to deal with difficult situations. The show can help children identify how a stranger might try to influence them. It also offers some strategies on how to deal with bullies and advises children on what to do if they ever get lost, scared or hurt.

The children really enjoyed interacting with the puppets, music and of course the life sized IMA, the Safety House.

Any families interested in getting involved in being a Safety House please contact the P&C.

performed so magnificently last Wednesday night at the Massed Choir Festival. There were many excited students who experienced singing at the Perth Concert Hall in front of an audience of 1000 people. Parents, you should be bursting with pride at the way all of the students sang and behaved. What a joyous and colourful night! Well done to everyone!

CHRISTMAS CHOIR begins Monday, 18th September at 8.30am in the music room. This is for any Year Three to Six

students who would like to come and have a go at singing in choir. INSTRUMENTAL TESTING will be conducted throughout the final week of this term. Those students who are absent

during this testing week will be able to sit for the test early next term. THANK YOU to the fantastic Year Six students who took part in last Thursday’s lunchtime performance of the instru-

ments which are offered through the school’s music program. Hollie, Jaidyn, Tilly, Zoe, Alyssa, Matthew, Ryan, Russell and Max all demonstrated great leadership qualities. Interested Year Two to Four students were able to listen to the instruments in the area outside of the music room.
