FROM THE PRINCIPAL
School Choir Our brand new performance uniforms have now been handed out to the Semitone Choir and they look amazing! The students will wear these for the first me at the School Fete on Saturday 13 September. A huge thank you to our Choir Captains, Sophie Khan and Ethan Strout, who have spent much of their own me with Ms Smith unpacking these uniforms ready for distribuon. Middle Ridge State School hosted a choral evening with our students and TACAPS on Wednesday 29 August, culminang in a concert which was very well received by the audience. Our students were exceponally well-behaved and great ambassadors for our school. Congratulaons to everyone involved. NAPLAN Preliminary Results Preliminary NAPLAN results were received last week. Once again, Toowoomba East State School students performed strongly. As you are aware, our school received significant posive media a2enon for our 2017 NAPLAN results. While we have not received such recognion this year, I am pleased to inform you that the Mean Scale Score for our students has increased in almost every area tested, as has the percentage of students placed in the Upper Two Bands. In Reading, a school priority, over two-thirds of our Year 5 students and more than 70% of our Year 3 students were placed in the Upper Two Bands. These results are a reflecon of the dedicaon of our teaching staff and the applicaon of our student group. None of this would be possible without support from home and I thank you for this sincerely. We have not yet received individual student reports. Once these arrive, they will be distributed to families.

2018 Father’s Day Stall Chaplaincy Report Thank you to all involved with this year’s Father’s Day stall. $3724.44 was raised for chaplaincy at our school. We hope that all involved enjoyed the experience. A special thank you goes out to Renee Day (Coordinator) and Nadja and Chameera who volunteered for both full days. All parent volunteers ensured the stall was fun for the children and ran smoothly, thank you very much. Thank you to all students and your families for supporng our fundraiser. We appreciate any feedback in preparaon for the 2019 Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls. We are also encouraging new members to join our commi2ee. If you appreciate the work that Chappy Kev does and would like to get involved, please let him know or contact one of our current commi2ee members. Kind regards Chaplaincy Commi2ee at TESS President/Secretary Treasurer Sandra Gellatly Carolyn Cranch [email protected] [email protected] 0432 716 936 0451 566 560 Mr Gibson immersing himself in the EAL/D lessons.
