SENIOR EXECUTIVE REPORTIt is with great pride that we farewell the class of 2018.
This week saw our Year 12 students undertake their final school lessons, farewell and thank their teachers, participate in the traditional paint ball activity day and formally graduate from school on Thursday.
These students have achieved a great deal during their time at Tweed River High School, many of whom have been together with us for six years. During this time we have watched them overcome the difficulties of adolescence; growing both as learners and leaders.
Thursday’s ceremony was a final opportunity for some of our Year 12 students to showcase their musical talents for the school community. Many of these students have been performing at events such as year assemblies, Ed Vu and eisteddfods since they were in year 7, taking every opportunity to develop their performance skills. Dakota Rowles and Natasha Bell wowed us with their singing; while Lachlan Jaeger, Michael Dow and Mitchyl Murphy entertained us with their amazing instrumental talent.
Vice-Captain, Matthew Lewis, compiled a memorabilia video to share; commemorating events such as the year 7 disco and school camp, along with various excursions and school carnivals.
I would like to congratulate Bailey Richardson who was awarded the Overall Outstanding Achiever for the year, along with the many students who received top achievement and outstanding achievement awards.
Along with academic awards many students achieved awards for their performance in sport or their contribution to student leadership.
I would like to thank the many teachers and support staff who have nurtured these students over the last six years and instilled in them the school values.
I hope that every student will continue to embrace every opportunity available to them, continue to be a team player and achieve excellence in their chosen field. More importantly, I wish them a safe and happy life in which respect for themselves and others remains the cornerstone of everything they do.
I would particularly like to thank Mr Buchanan for supporting these students as their Year Advisor from Years 7 to 11 and Mr Winter who has worked with Mr Buchanan to support these students through Year 12.
I know that I will see these students and their teachers at school during the holidays undertaking further exam preparation and I wish them every success in their examinations and their post school life. I hope to see some of their photos hanging outside my office in the Tweed River High School Hall of Fame in the future.

THUMBS UP TO OUR HPV TEAMOur Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) students had a fantastic time on the weekend of September 15/16 September at the Annual HPV Races in Maryborough, QLD. The Junior team came 11th in their division, which was quite an accomplishment considering they were a few riders short and were off the track for an hour with mechanical repairs. The Senior team managed to do quite well also, even with a player short they came in 27th in their division. Both teams were competing against a total of 148 teams. Well done to our HPV Students and huge thanks to the staff who put in so much time and effort so that these students can enjoy being part of such a great project. Special thanks to Mr Arrowsmith, without whom this opportunity would not have been possible.
STUDENTS COMPOSE THEIR OWN SONGStudents taking part in the Music 4 Life Workshop this term have recorded a song after many hours of hard work. Watch out for the final version on Facebook next term!

SPORT REPORT7/8 BOYS & GIRLS TOUCH FOOTBALL TEAMS
Congratulations to our 7/8 boys and girls Touch Football teams who were undefeated last week at the Ballina Regional Qualifier. They will now compete at the State Finals in Sydney on the 16th of November. Thank you to our referee volunteers who did a fantastic job on the day.
A number of our sporting events wouldn't be possible without the help of our volunteer referees and umpires. Last week Rieley Moloney, Tyra Togo and Natasha Umstad refereed at the NSW Touch Regional 7/8 Qualifier in Ballina and were put onto the finals due to their outstanding skills. A big thank you to these girls for your dedication to the sport of Touch Football at TRHS.
