    Relieving Principal’s Message

Life is an echo. What you send out, comes back.

There is a story of a little boy who got angry with his mother and shouted at her, “I hate you, I hate you.” Because of fear of reprimand, he ran out of the house. He went out to the valley and shouted, “I hate you, I hate you.” and back came the echo, “I hate you, I hate you.” This was the first time in his life he had heard an echo. He got scared, went to his mother for protection and said there was a bad boy in the valley who shouted “I hate you, I hate you.” The mother understood and she asked her son to go back and shout, “I love you, I love you.” The little boy went and shouted, “I love you, I love you,” and back came the echo.

That taught the little boy a lesson that our life is like an echo. We get back what we give and what we see in others exists in us. Benjamin Franklin said, “When you are good to others, you are best to yourself.”

It has been a 100 years since Clarence Jeffries died on the battlefield giving his best so that others could live. • 2017 Year Book Order Form Our 2017 Yearbook is having finishing touches at present and will be printed through the school office shortly. This booklet will involve approx 100 pages of colour and provide a snap shot of the year’s events. It has been very cleverly created with the skills of Rachel Murray, with the input of all class teachers and many senior students. Science and Engineering Challenge Last week our year 5/ 6 students competed in a Science and Engineering day, run by Newcastle University, at St Mary’s school. They did a tremendous job with year 6 winning the competition.

Dudley PS won the school competition and is now the Champion School of the Science and Engineering Challenge for the past 4 years. Those 4 Champion School plaques are mounted just to the left of the front office window. Congratulations to year 5/6, Mrs Sullivan and their inspirational trailblazer, Mr Horadam.

Dudley PS Principal Position The first panel was unable to reach a determination in the merit selection process. On the basis of the available information, a new panel was formed. They will reconvene using the original set of applications, with the process recommencing at the stage of short listing applicants for interview. It is possible that the new panel will short list a different set of applicants and/or come to different recommendations. A final decision should be made before the end of this term.

Year 6 Have-A-Go Day This Wednesday all Year 6 students are attending Whitebridge High School for a “ Have A Go Day”. This is designed to give our students a “taste” of high school. They will complete lessons in English, Drama, Technology & Applied Studies, Mathematics, Creative Arts and PE. They will be supported by Kate Sullivan on the day as well as the Whitebridge HS teachers.
