Message from the Principal… Dear Parents & Carers, Thank you to the parents who attended the Reading and Writing workshops last Thursday. We are hoping to run a workshop next term about Visible Learning and what this means for students at Nabiac PS. More information will be provided next term. I am taking some leave from tomorrow for the rest of the term. In my absence, Mrs Arandale will relieve as principal and Ms Dunne will relieve as assistant principal for Stage 2 and 3. ANZAC day Dawn and Morning Service Dawn Service ANZAC day this year falls during the holidays (25th April). The NPS Staff, P&C and school leaders will be running the Dawn Service in conjunction with the local RSL Sub-branch. The Dawn Service commences at 6.00am, however the leaders should be there at 5.40am to prepare for a 6am start. All members of the community are welcome to attend. If anyone has flowers they would like to donate for people to lay on the War Memorial they can bring them in on the day. The leaders will lay a wreath on behalf of the school.

Morning ANZAC Service If students and parents would like to participate in the morning service, we ask children to be out the front of the school at 10.30am in school uniform to march to the War Memorial. A wreath will be placed at the War Memorial on behalf of our students. The choir will may perform at the service, pending numbers. NAPLAN – Online NAPLAN is now online. This week, we will continue to carry out practice tests to allow the school to rectify any technical issues that may arise. This will also give students an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new process enabling them to feel prepared for the actual NAPLAN test held in Term 2. Mrs Arandale Head Lice Parents please note we have had a few out breaks of head lice at school. Head lice are small wingless biting insects which live and breed in human hair and feed by sucking blood from the scalp. Outbreaks of head lice are common in children in schools and institutions everywhere. They infest people of all socio-economic positions and age groups. Spread: is by direct head to head contact with a person who has head lice. The best way to check for head lice is to apply a generous amount of hair conditioner, then towel dry the hair and comb through with a course comb to detangle the hair. Conditioner stuns the head lice for about 20 minutes. Then using a very fine toothed comb (special head lice combs are available at the Pharmacy), comb the hair through, wiping it on a tissue regularly so you can check for lice and their eggs. Incubation period is usually 7 to 10 days. Even if you remove all lice, the remaining eggs with hatch and the lice will lay eggs again. You must remove all eggs and lice to break the cycle. There are products available to prevent head lice. Talk to your local Pharmacy for more information. Stewart House Donation Drive 2019 Next week is the last opportunity you have to hand in your Stewart House Fundraising envelope. Extra envelopes are available at the office. By donating $2 to this worthy cause you are placed in a draw to win a $4,000 holiday to a destination of your choice. Please return the envelope to the school by the end of this term. P&C Easter Raffle Large tubs have been placed in all the classrooms ready for Easter egg donations for our raffle. We ask if parents and carers could send their child to school with a donation of an Easter egg/bunny or a basket for the raffle. The class who donates the most, win a prize. Raffle tickets were sent home earlier this term. Thank you to all the families who have returned the tickets and money. Tickets cost $1 each. Each book is worth $10. Raffle tickets and money must be returned by Wednesday 10th April to be included in the raffle. The raffle will be drawn on the morning of Wednesday 10th and winners will be announced during the parade. We thank you for your support.
