NEWSLETTER Our School
Message From The Principal
Come and Try School Morning’s Do you have or do you know of any children due to start school next year? If so encourage them to register for our Come and Try School morning on Friday 9 and Wednesday 14 March at 9:30am. As well as giving children a “taste” of Primary School, parents will have the opportunity to hear all about starting school and the enrolment process. A range of staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
Do you want to make the most out of reading with your kids? Would you like to learn about some quick and easy strategies to assist your child during reading? Then come along to our parent session on Friday 23 March at 9:00am in the staffroom. (Please note there has been a change of date since last advertised in issue 2 of the newsletter.)
Lock Down Drill As part of our emergency management plan we perform a number of drills throughout the year. Please be advised that students today participated in a successful lock down drill. Next term we will have an evacuation drill.
SUNSHINE PRIMARY SCHOOL SAYS
'BULLYING. NO WAY!' ON THE
NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION On Friday 16 March, our school will be taking a stand together on the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. The National Day is an annual event for Australian schools where school communities across the nation stand as one against bullying and violence. Sunshine Primary School is dedicated to creating safe and supportive school environments, free from bullying, harassment and violence. Together, we can send clear messages to young people that bullying and violence, in or outside the classroom, are not okay at any time. We will be participating in
various activities to celebrate the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence on Friday 16 March. Please note the date in your diaries. For more information and a variety of engaging activities, please visit https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/NationalDay

Over the next few weeks during the students’ music class, we will be going through the lyrics and history of our national anthem. Please find a copy of the lyrics (verse 1) attached for students and families to practise at home. It would be great to get the whole school community joining in together in one strong voice during our morning assemblies. Joyce Azzopardi Music Teacher
NATIONAL ANTHEM LYRICS Australians all let us rejoice, For we are young and free;
We've golden soil and wealth for toil, Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in Nature's gifts, Of beauty rich and rare;
In history's page, let every stage Advance Australia fair! In joyful strains then let us sing, "Advance Australia fair!"

We made pancakes with 1/2 E at school.
First we put water in the pancake mix.
Then we shook the mix. After we shook the mix,
Ms Ervin opened the lid of the bottle, it exploded
and a little bit went on Ms Ervin’s face! Then we
cooked the pancakes. After that we ate it with
maple syrup or chocolate sauce. It was yummy!
