Norfolkanelected bygenealogists

Bob Plisek of Norfolk was in-stalled as president of the Ne-braska State Genealogical Societyat the organization's 17th annualconference last weekend at River-side Inn, Grand Island.

Other officers elected are: Car-ole Blaser of Columbus, vice presi-dent; Robert Graff of Beatrice, sec-retary; and Marcia Buescher ofKim ball, treasurer.

The two-day conference featuredas guest speaker Dr. Arlene Ealklefrom Salt Lake City. She has been aprofessional genealogist for morethan 25 years, and is a well knownauthor and editor of "The Source:A Guidebook for American Geneal-ogy."

"Outstanding Genealogist" ap-preciation certificate awards werepresented to those who were chosenby their local societies for theirwork and projects for 1993-94. In-cluded were Jeanne Allison aridBob Plisek from the Madison Coun-ty Genealogical Society.

The conference was well at-tended from all parts of Nebraskaas well as from out-of-state.

The state society assists localgroups in organizing. At presentthere are 48 local societies, with thetwo newest being the Wayne Countyand Nance-Boone Genealogical So-cieties.
