ICT is concerned with all the existing digital technology that helps
individuals, businesses, and organizations in making use of information.
ICT covers any product that stores, retrieves, manipulates, transmits or
receives information electronically in a digital form. Some examples are
personal computers, e-mails, social network websites, dig ital television,
and even robots.
The advancement of
technology has had anenormous impact on the world.
ICT has drastically changed the
way our society operates.
People do not often interact or
communicate with each other
the traditional way anymore.
With new advances in the field
of ICT, people are becoming more and more reli ant on the benefits they
provide.
ICT do not necessarily alter the theoretical limits of human interaction
because such interaction continues to be ruled by basic human
inclination. The most interesting thing about these new technologies is,however, their abi lity to provide new or previously rare contexts for
information expression and engagement.
ICT stands for “Information Communications Technology”. There is not a universally accepted definition for it because of
the constant evolution in the concepts, methods, and
applications involve in the field of ICT.
What is ICT?

In business, Internet workspaces and smart
phones have given companies the ability to
facilitate group work regardless of geographic
location, while video conferencing has provided
the opportunity to conduct meetings with
people on opposite sides of the globe. Such
advances have in turn resulted in higher
productivity and savings in transportation costfor both the company itself and the employee,
making ICT incredibly important to the world of
business.
In the past few years, educators and students
have increased the usage of ICT in the field of
education. They have increased option when it
comes to learning and correspondence. Via e-
mail, students now have the ability to contact
their instructors at any time for guidance, thus
allowing them to
fully understand the
materials and
assignments. Asidefrom that, websites,
forums, and
message boards
have transformed
the classroom,
allowing learning to
take place online.
This has extended
learning
opportunities to more remote and isolated
areas; giving increased access to future
students.
The Importance of ICT in Various FieldICT has also played an important role in the
interpersonal interactions between human.
Cell phones and their texting abili ties have
spawned across a generation that largely
keeps in contact with each other through short
messages using the SMS (Short Message
Service). Apart from
that, Internet socialnetworking sites like
Facebook and Twitter
has made it even
easier for individuals
to keep up on each
other’s lives. Video
conferencing
services such as
Skype provide
people with
convenience in
connecting with their loved ones who might be
far on the other side of the globe. In such a fast
paced society, these technologies makemaintenance of networks, friendships, and
other relationship easier to navigate than ever.
When natural disasters such as earthquakes
and thunderstorms strike, the ability to
communicate with the outside world is critical,
for instance, satellite phone technology has
created a way to maintain communication with
the outside world when other phone lines go
down. These communication technologies
result in the delivery of timelier and more
pertinent aids to those who need it most.

Ever since the emergence of ICT, there has been great
progress in a number of areas. An amazing and rapid
expansion of ICT services has occurred. A wide range of
important services that affect the ability of the poor and,
indeed, large part of developing country populations to
conduct transactions at reasonable costs, as well as to
start and run businesses. There has been major
progress in many countries in expanding access to
these informational and transaction-based services.
While the process is far from complete, evidencesuggests that the impacts are large and growing. Many
questions about the use of ICT by the poor have been positively resolved. A ffordability has increased,
and the technology seems accessible and easy to use. The progress in a number of areas, including
implementation of safe savings channels, secure and low-cost transfer of funds, and more, has been
impressive. It is also fairly clear that mobile phone and data technology has increasingly formed the
infrastructure underpinning of much of this.
Facebook Getting a New Facelift
Facebook has revamped its design, making its website look more like its Android
and iOS mobile apps.
The refresh also introduces topic-specific alternatives to its news feed. One result of thechange is that adverts are harder to ignore because they can take up more screen space.
However, the project's leadengineer, Chris Struhar deniedthat ads were the redesign's
focus. He suggested his focushad been on stripping back the
amount of information beingshown on the news feed to makeeach post more "engaging".
The company has launched thenew format but it will be monthsbefore all users are affected.
Those wanting to be among the
first to be switched over can joinin the waiting list. In January,
Facebook reported that 1.06 billion people were using its service at least once a month. The company also revealed that its profit for the last three months of the year of 2012 was
79% down on the same period the previous year despite a rise in sales because of increased spending on research and development.

Is there a god?
The world's greatest
scientists get
together to build the
world's best computer.
They toil for months
and are finally
finished.
They decide since this is the world's greatest
computer, they have to ask it a really important
question. They talk it over and then one of them
types in the following: "Is there a god?"
The computer whirs and whizzes for a few
minutes and then on the screen there's this: ---
"There is now."
