Dear Parents,

As this is the final newsletter for 2012, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support of our school this year. I have loved every minute of leading the school this year and I am proud to say that I am the principal of such a wonderful school.

It is a pleasure to work with such an amazing staff and a group of smart, enthusiastic and friendly students.

Thank you also to all of the parents and family members who freely give their time to assist the school in so many different ways. We could not run this school without your support.

Reading Recovery Graduation

Congratulations to Mrs Nielsen and Mrs Lawrence who graduated from their Reading Recovery Training last week.

We are very proud of you both!

Year 4 Design

Stage 2 were asked to design a form of transport for the future this term. Samuel from 4SM was one of the many creative students who were able to think “outside the box” to create this great piece of work.

School Spirit and Dux awards

This year we have made a few changes to the end of year awards for year 6. We have replaced the “Principal’s award” with two separate awards.

These are:

Dux: Awarded to a Year 6 student who is the highest academic achiever for that year.

School Spirit: Awarded to a Year 6 student who has contributed significantly to the school in a variety of ways. They may not be the highest achiever or best sportsman/woman but they are a student who has shown sustained positive commitment to all educational, sporting and social activities within the school.

Presentation Day will be held tomorrow (Wednesday 12/12/12) in the hall. Invitations have been sent home and all parents and friends are invited to join us on the day. Presentation Day times are:

Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 (including Year 2 from 2/3M) at 12pm

Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6 (including Year 3 from 2/3M) at 9:30am

Class Parties

We will be having class parties next Tuesday to celebrate the end of the year. Notes will be coming home shortly asking students to contribute to these parties. Please remember that we have a number of students with severe allergies, so we ask that parents not send any nuts or products containing nuts to school. We would also suggest that pre packaged goods with a list of ingredients are the most suitable items. If any parent wishes to make any items, please send a list of ingredients with the food.

Thank you!

A huge thank you to Mrs Olive Heckenberg who continues to volunteer at our school many years after her family has left as students. She happily helps out every morning at the Uniform Shop and has put many, many hours into ensuring parents and students are able to wear our school uniform with pride!

P&C formally thanked Olive on Monday assembly and we at PPS would like to reiterate that sentiment also.

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication!

2013 Kindergarten Enrolments

If you or someone you know has a child who is 5 or turning 5 before July 31

2013, they are required to start Kindergarten next year. If they have not already

been enrolled, we ask that they contact the office as soon as possible to

complete an enrolment form.

2013 Classing

In the last weeks of this year, my staff and I will begin looking at 2013 class placements for students. If you would like to discuss the needs of your child, I encourage you to book a time to talk with me as soon as possible.

Teachers have not been assigned to grades yet (I cannot do this until numbers are finalised in early 2013), however I am more than willing to meet with you

regarding individual requirements should you so wish.

I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and restful holiday break. I look forward too seeing everyone back in 2013 for another exciting school year.

Just a reminder that students in Years 1-6 return to school on Wednesday 30th January 2013.
